I came to this place because I self tested for autism and ADHD and wanted an official diagnosis. My therapist, Daniella Goodman, was a very invalidating experience. She told me at the start of our second meeting that she didn't think I had autism, just childhood trauma. I told her I knew that already, and that these two things are not mutually exclusive, to which she nodded but clearly didn't agree. Dr. Goodman did several things I felt was just inappropriate. Telling me her thoughts before the evaluation was even half way, she giggled nervously and continuously when she did give me my diagnosis. I'm a counselor and a sociologist, so I'm not just a lay person, and she was not open at all to being reflexive about how she could improve. I was so concerned about this I emailed the head guys to complain. That email was the most validating part of the experience! I told them that if I left the review it would not be very good. I give them big credit for acknowledging my concerns, but they also did very little to actually address the situation when the testing was over, aside from tell me that they would discuss it with Dr Goodman, though I feel like very little good will come from that because she wasn't very open-minded. I considered asking for a refund, or a do-over, but I felt like they should have offered that for how much I complained, and they didn't ... And I definitely didn't want to do all this again with someone equally problematic. I have to be honest, if someone asked me to recommend a place to get tested for autism, I would not recommend this place. I have to agree with the review I just read that in many ways this turned me off from ever getting tested for anything again. I learned very little about myself in the process and in the final report, and I'm leaving the experience assuming I do have autism and ADHD. So it didn't help much at all. Aside from that I learned how to be really self-assertive with a narrow minded therapist.
Wasn’t thrilled with my paired therapist. In fact my experience was so scarring in the first session - I may never be back to therapy. Shame on you for treating me this way. Scary therapist.
This is the first time I’ve worked with a center that really cares for my well being and I really appreciate that. I’ve worked with other therapists before but this is the first time I’ve ever really felt seen and heard. Thank you Senya Hawkins.
SF Stress and Anxiety really helped me find relief after COVID had increased stress in my life and my work. I looked around at options initially but the customer service and quality therapist options at SF Stress really won me over after an interview I saw of them on the news. When I contacted them they were very responsive, personable, and accommodating to my needs from a scheduling perspective and I liked my therapist and trusted their experience and guidance. From day one I felt like I found the right spot. I have made very good progress in counseling over telehealth with their psychologists.
With all that has gone on over the last couple of years, my stress was at maximum level. Luckily the San Francisco Stress and Anxiety Center is available with kind and compassionate (and effective) counselors to help with strategies to reduce the stress. Highly recommend!
