The staff here are friendly, and I'm sure the artists are skilled at what they do. However, I don’t think the pricing or time estimates are realistic. I signed up online for the ten-hour tapout challenge to get a cover-up on my calf (a tattoo that originally cost me $500 and took about 4 hours). When I went in for a consultation with Oscar, I was told the best approach would be to cover the right side first, then the left, and finally the centre, since apparently the calf is a tricky area. He said the first side alone would take one or two sessions—that’s just unreasonable. They quoted me between $1,200–$2,400 (10–20 hours) just to cover about a third of a tattoo. Be warned before committing—because as much as I respect good work, you’re likely overpaying here. There’s no way a $500 tattoo cover-up should turn into a potential $5,000 project. 🤣 ***UPDATE*** One of the owners reached out to me a couple of hours after I posted this. He explained that there had been a misunderstanding between me, the artist, and the manager. According to him, a basic cover-up would take one session, and something more complex might take two. He asked if I’d be willing to move forward with that understanding. However, I explained that after the initial miscommunication, I’m not confident in the time estimates and worry it could end up taking longer—meaning potentially higher costs. Their approach of “let’s see how it goes” for pricing just isn’t a good fit for me. I prefer to work with an artist who can provide a clear, upfront quote rather than one that might fluctuate. ***UPDATE 2*** I highly recommend avoiding this place. Despite the owner's claims, that's NOT the price quoted during my consultation—that came after he called about a 'misunderstanding' with me, the artist, and manager. No misunderstanding: I said outright I wasn't paying $3600+ when I walked out. Check reviews from their downtown store—it's happened to others, worse: folks did 10hr sessions thinking it'd finish, only told at the end of session 1 it wouldn't. If the owner lies about this, trust nothing he says. He even asked me to change my rating on the first call 😂😂😂. Artists probably great, but go elsewhere for decent prices—you can't trust their quotes.
