Sorry but this comes as a reviewer from a Texans point of view . The food is good however there's much influence of the "way Brits do it" . Service was ok - very tight place . The atmosphere was good . However the food which is the most important thing....not authentic enough. Correct me if I'm wrong but anise in black beans ? The jalapeño/avocado sauce though good just had something that hadn't seen in Mexican sauces . Good though .
The service from Jamie was really good. He gave his best recommendations and let us know what was popular on the menu. He was also very understanding and patient. Food wise the food was good, I had the pork tacos and the guacamole and chips! This restaurant is also amazing as it caters to those with gluten allergies and food preferences very well.
Amazing evening and dinning experience. Jon, our server, put the cherry to it. He and the rest of staff were so attentive and put all effort to make sure we had the best time. Food was so tasty too. We will return soon for sure. Thank you 🥰
We often get hung up on places that MUST be 5 stars in order for them to be worth visiting, however this restaurant is a classic example of a good but not perfect experience that I would STILL RECOMMEND. Came here with a large group where a few of us arrived very late which the staff had no issues with so some drinks orders were taken. I opted for the Tepache which I had never seen or heard of before (a fermented pineapple drink) which definitely had a unique and mildly alcoholic flavour but was a bit too sweet for my liking, glad I tried it though! I was lucky enough to sip one of the spicy margarita's going round and it was truly exquisite. The waiting staff were on and off filling our water glasses without us needing to ask, although this did drop off towards the end. Once everyone arrived, we had our food orders taken. The only option was for the Set Menu but was made aware in advance of our arrival that the A La Carte would be available. However when we asked the waiter this he drew a blank and shrugged his shoulders. With us looking slightly bemused, another member of the team immediately swooped in remedying the situation providing us with the A La Carte menus. In the end we opted for the Set Menu which was a pricey £42 per head dessert and side supplemental charges (the dessert not being included is absoutely criminal in my opinion). There were a couple of vegetarians in our group which thankfully the set menu catered for but there was only one option so not ideal. The food arrived in due course and in general the portion sizes were good. We had plenty or tortilla chips and dips to share at the beginning. The two dishes that followed were quite similar, that being a soft/hard tortilla with something on top so not very creative in my opinion. However, they were very tasty so it's a small gripe. The final short rib dish blew me away, soft fall of the bone meat in a rich mole sauce, and the plantain was a unique addition - a delight. Overall the food was very good and hard to say anything bad about, for the £60 price tag, the service and menu options needs fine tuning for this place to get 5 stars. This place is definitely worth visiting as I would like others to form their own opinion and allow the team to build on their achievements.
We came here with friends and had an amazing evening. We had no reservation but were offered a table right away. The food was amazing and the service was great! Olivia was very attentive and even kept up with us constantly switching between Spanish and English :) many thanks, seguramente volveremos pronto!
