Rude and unprofessional front desk personnel!!

This review is for the overall experiences I had at this location during the 6-7 months I had been visiting regularly for help with my acne. The majority of the front staff is negligent and unfriendly (including multiple incidents of denying I had a copay just for me to later receive a bill and denying scheduling of follow-ups). But my primary complaint is the complete lack of personalized care to my situation. Over several sessions, not once did they try to understand what my skin was going through - or even take a look at the state of my skin, which I thought was odd. I was thrown prescription on top of prescription, and because I’m a good girl and I do what my doctors tell me, my skin barrier was completely disintegrated and my acne was never improved. As someone with an autoimmune disease that makes my skin extra sensitive for which I am on multiple immunosuppressive medications, I was recommended completely inappropriate treatment for my situation. I had to inform them as to why I couldn’t pursue that treatment and instead was put on actives that were way too harsh for me (and they kept adding more!) I am so disappointed that I kept going back, destroying my skin and believing they would help me. What a waste of time and money.

Update: Docking another star as I am currently going through a billing dispute for a line item that I did not approve. After going through the proper motions of disputing the charge and being told it was under investigation, I heard nothing back for months until I got a letter that they sent me to collections. No follow up from the company, no emails, texts, calls, physical mail, nothing. A terrible administrative experience from the parent dermatology group. Just to be upfront and clear - the care that Dr. Shaw provided was excellent. She was very understanding of my needs and took care of my exam and mole removal quickly and painlessly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone! The issue I have is with the office itself. I don't know if they are going through growing pains since being acquired but I had to wait past my appointment time each visit (once over 40 minutes) while I watched other patients who were late for their appointments get taken in before me. This is not the correct way to do business. The AI phone system they are using is junk and not a good way to provide customer service.

Dr Friedman is very attentive and caring about his patients. He is very skilled and professional. His staff are very welcoming and skilled at asking preliminary questions about your medical history and why you are visiting the Dr. I recommend this dermatologist.

My two star review is in reference to the assistant Emmy. We saw Dr Shah and she was nice and pleasant. But just had my third experience with Emmy and she’s just not nice at all. The second visit she took stitches out and just had the patient standing there not understanding what was happening. There is no communication and she explains nothing to you. On the third visit the patient had more stitches removed and this time I had him sit down and ask if he was ok or in pain because she does none of that. When she looked at the wound she said “huh” I had to ask her what she meant by that because she wasn’t saying anything. And she was trying to take nonexistent stitches out of an old wound. Maybe take a look at the chart before going in to see the patient. I had to ask her if she was having bad day and she proceeded to say she was sick and had a sore throat! And had no mask on. That just seems really unprofessional for a Dr’s office.
