First time coming here and I was impressed by the friendly, attentive service and charming atmosphere. It’s much cuter on the inside. The host/server was awesome. My to go order came out quickly despite the rush and they went out of their way to bring it outside to me. The biscuits and fried chicken are VERY good… the real deal.
This is what we would call a small family business. Upon entering, the waiting line was busy. The area to place orders are small. Now for the biscuits. I didnt love/like it. I asked for extra jelly on the side. They applied it to my biscuit. Which was bland, not flavorful and tasted just as if I was eating flour. It was heavy and I donot recommend.
As the name of restaurant suggests, they serve biscuits. I expected a dish or two that served biscuits with gravy or other sauce but found lots of different ways to serve biscuits. I read the menu and only found one plate that would be biscuits and gravy…the Big Al. It was delicious! Two large fluffy biscuits smothered with sausage gravy topped with an egg. I was full after eating a small part and took the rest home. The restaurant is very cozy and the service was fantastic. When I got home, I found pictures of the many other ways they serve biscuits…sandwiches, plates with chicken, eggs, and different sauces. I will have to return for sure.
Nice, clean establishment. Nice and big and delicious biscuits. Nice variety of options to go with biscuits. Good coffee in good sized mugs. I liked the apple butter on my biscuit. Had the pulled pork with greens and grits. I prefer rice vinegar on my greens, but what they had was just fine. My companion had biscuit and gravy, which I'll try on my next visit, I'm told it was spicy. 😊 overall a pleasant experience.
There were a lot of biscuit-sandwich based options I could've went with here, but I decided to go with the biscuits and gravy - or the Big Al as it's known I don't know who Al is, but I know why they call it Big. The size of this thing is monstrous. I couldn't even see the biscuits under that mountain of gravy, but I'm convinced that either there's more than two, or these are the two biggest biscuits I've ever seen, because I kept on eating and more and more of the biscuit kept on reappearing underneath the gravy. It felt like it was never ending. I was able to finish about 85% of the meal before calling it. The biscuits were pretty solid, although I have to say I was expecting a little better. There was a great crust on the outside, and the inside was pretty soft, but I thought they felt a little dry - especially on the parts not covered by the gravy. Like it felt like I needed gravy in order to eat this, which I don't think a great biscuit should require. I get that other biscuits would have butter/jam/whatever else, and this one has gravy in place of that, but I would say I've had better biscuits elsewhere The gravy, though, is where this shines. It's warm, comforting, and so flavorful. There's large chunks of pork sausage throughout, and that cottage-cheese like texture is practically perfect. I could eat the gravy by itself - biscuits can be optional - it was that good. The egg was also a nice touch, but due to the size of the gravy, it was only able to mix with a small portion. As I mentioned, the portion size is pretty massive. It's slightly on the expensive side, coming out to $18.5 in total, but since you could easily share this with two people it's not bad. Overall, I can't say it's the best biscuits I've had, but definitely the best gravy. 8.25/10
