I love this farmer's market! Of course they have fresh produce, duck and chicken eggs, and grass-fed beef, as well as dog treats, jewelry, Turkish coffee, matcha and Chinese watercolor prints, empanadas, tamales, tye-dye, Nepalese dumplings, baked goods - there's something for everyone here. It's slightly smaller than other markets in the area but I like that because it's more chill earlier in the morning and I've had the chance to get to know some of the vendors over time - very sweet people. Highly recommend!
SFC is a shady company - Beware Vendors SFC stole over $1200 in booth fees from my small family business. I have been a vendor with SFC about 12 years. I have always praised them on how well they treat their vendors and run their markets. However, within the last year or so they have made changes to their policies requiring vendors to pay a full month of booth fees up front even if they aren’t in attendance. As well as these monthly fees must be auto drafted no longer cash paid or manual CC payment. For example, if you want to start selling with SFC mid month you will still be paying for the first two weeks you weren’t there. Or if you worked the first weekend but were unable to come the rest of the month, you would not receive a refund for those 3-4 weeks. I was not in attendance for many months in a row and was told my account was on pause for payments. Once I discovered I was being charged, I was told by Maya Adra and Marie Miller via email that I would receive a full refund. I checked back weekly for my refund which drug out over a month at which time I was contacted by Amy Gallo who decided I was no longer getting a refund because of ‘new policy’. She offered me less than half of what they stole. I demanded the full amount and she ignored my contact attempts from there one it. I was not in attendance any of the months I was charged. My account was not paused for payment as it should have been. I was told I would receive a full refund. Then denied my refund after being drug along for over a month. This is total and complete and theft!! I will NEVER recommend SFC to any of my vendor friends. They are no longer community focused or supportive to their vendors. They have gone full ‘big business’ and only care about their profits.
Interesting and entertaining with good merchandise and great variety. Make a stop and pick up some fresh produce b while keeping small farms in the game. They are struggling and it's important to have these resources available. When our food supply chains break down, as we all have seen, it gets hard to find what we need. Local sources become essential in today's society when normal we depend on daily isn't there.
While small, it’s enjoyable to check out a farmers market. The vendors are great…including the tamales spot. Very hot, delicious tamales with gf and df options. Rose Burkhardt is there. Their jewelry is gold plated and has magnets to make it easy to put bracelets on yourself. Parking is always a thing downtown but is manageable. Street parking and garage parking nearby. It’s within a walking distance of the downtown paths. Worth a visit!
Very reasonable market. The local produce is amazing! The variety of offerings is very dynamic! Where's the music 🎶 though?! Is Austin the "Live Music Capital of the World"?! 🌍.... Hummmmm.... 🤔 The prices $$$ here are pretty sharp for the Regular crowd @ Republic Square. Food Stamps are accepted @ this Market....Wow 😳.... Never seen that b4... It's a great idea 💡 and really good for the community but, it's not really advertised that well and I'm not sure that someone on food stamps is going to pay $6 for a donut 🍩 or $9 for a cup of coffee ☕. With some tweaks, this market could be both profitable and an asset to the community.....
