I visited this Buddhist center hoping to find a welcoming, open-minded community dedicated to peace and personal growth. Unfortunately, my experience was far from that. The atmosphere felt surprisingly closed off. Instead of encouraging harmony and connection with the broader Buddhist community, the leadership seemed dismissive of other Buddhist traditions and perspectives. This creates an environment that feels more exclusionary than compassionate. What troubled me most was how difficult it was for newcomers to get involved. Despite presenting themselves as a “world peace center,” they were not receptive to people outside their established inner circle. The sense of gatekeeping made the space feel uninviting, which goes against the inclusive values many expect from a spiritual organization. I truly hoped for a community built on kindness, openness, and respect, but sadly this center did not reflect those principles during my visit. I would recommend exploring other centers that foster a more welcoming and inclusive approach to Buddhist practice.(Try Nichiren Shoshu )

The Soka Gakkai Buddhist Center in Miami is a truly uplifting and peaceful place dedicated to the practice of Nichiren Buddhism and the teachings of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda. Whether you’re new to chanting or a longtime practitioner, this center offers a warm, inclusive environment where everyone is encouraged to deepen their faith and connect with others in the spirit of human revolution and peace. Hours of Operation: • Monday, Wednesday, Friday – Open from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM A great time for personal chanting (Daimoku), quiet reflection, or picking up study materials. • Sundays: • Most Sundays feature Soka 2030, a youth-centered one-hour chanting session for the peace of the land from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, followed by inspiring encouragement • On the first Sunday of each month, the center hosts Kosen-rufu Gongyo from 10:00 AM to approximately 11:30 AM, a powerful community gathering for world peace and the advancement of kosen-rufu. Every visit is an opportunity to strengthen one’s life condition, receive warm encouragement, and deepen understanding of Nichiren Daishonin’s teachings.
