We love Shock City! Everyone is so kind and the whole operation is very well organized. The culture is really welcoming and the kids are really empowered to make strides in their music learning. We started our seven year old with Joshua T. and he has been an incredible first teacher for a new piano student!

My boys have been attending Shock City Maplewood for over a year and love it! One plays the electric guitar and the other plays piano. The instructors are top notch and customize their lessons to appeal to the students’ musical interests. The director, Gen, is very accommodating and supportive with any adjustments and requests. They really cultivate an environment that produces a love for music!

I am so happy to have enrolled my 4 year old in piano lessons at Shock City. When he goes off track and starts hopping around like a frog or some other 4-year-old behavior, it is anticipated and accepted as part of the process. The redirection is gentle, and the learnings adapted for where the child is that day. I am grateful for the caring, patient, and talented professionals at Shock City to help my musical child explore his curiosity in such a knowledgeable and joyful way.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons with Gen (owner) at Shock City for several years, and we couldn't be happier with our experience! My daughter started lessons when she was 10, and she has loved learning piano and has thoroughly enjoyed working with Gen. In addition to the musical skills she's gained, she's also developed a sense of ownership and pride in her growing musical ability -- which has been such a beautiful thing to witness in our growing pre-teen!

My daughter has been taking piano lessons at Shock City for about eight months now. Thanks to the positivity, patience, and expertise of her teacher, she's making fantastic progress--and she's having a lot of fun! Both of us look forward to her weekly lessons and especially to the studio's recitals. We'd recommend Shock City to anyone looking for private lessons or group instruction.
