At first I thought it was nothing more than just some MMA training but then I realized he was giving me something more. I've been training with Professor Danny for 2.5years now and he is a seasoned teacher with a great deal of hands-on MMA experience. His instruction is incredibly clear, is able to break down every position/movement in great detail, and has experience working with every skill level! He is a true martial artist, having trained in everything from Judo and wrestling to Wing Chun and Kali. But of course, he is a world-class expert in BJJ, MMA, and kickboxing. As a former professional MMA fighter and a 4th-degree black belt in BJJ, he knows what it takes to win, having a versatile skillset and a strong championship mindset. But that doesn't mean you have to be a fighter to appreciate his teaching. Prof. Danny is one of the few elite-level instructors who is also an expert teacher — he's physically talented, has real-world experience, and can adapt to each student (whether complete newbie or black belt) so they learn quickly. And the best part? He's funny, easy-going, and encouraging. The Where: The new SoCal Combat Club location in Anaheim is located in an industrial park, which is great because you don't get the random riff-raff who walk in and disturb a class like you would find at a strip mall location. It might be small-ish, but everything is new, clean, and well organized. And there's plenty of parking during the evening classes. Plus, it's close to the 57 and 91 freeways, so getting there is a breeze regardless of where you're coming from. The Why: There are many reasons to train here. You might start because you want to lose weight and get fit — you will burn hundreds of calories per sessions, regardless of the style you try out. You might train because you want to learn how to defend yourself and your family or compete in amateur BJJ or kickboxing tournaments. But no doubt you'll stay because of the people. Prof. Danny and the SoCal Combat Club are so welcoming, supportive that it'll feel like you're a part of a family.
SoCal Combat Club isn’t just a gym it’s a family of like minded people that came together to help better each other. The team that Coach Danny has training under him are phenomenal and all the higher belts want to help the new members to get better and will take the time to breakdown the details of the moves that we are working on. With the new location being super close to the freeway makes it easy to train which is a massive plus. I have been training under Coach Danny for 9 months now. The passion and love that Coach Danny’s has for BJJ and kickboxing and wanting his students to excel is hard to find nowadays. Coach Danny and the whole team are down to earth and no one has a chip on their shoulder. Coach Danny is definitely the Best coach you can train under. For all the days you can train and being able to have the best of both worlds (Stand up and ground) for a very good deal it was a no brainer for me to start training at SoCal Combat Club.
