This is long over due but I guess with 4 years being apart of Somos time just passes. I mean with all the love, support, openness, fun, respect, family, community, safety and well organized teaching I just never left a review but I felt it was time to share with the world my feelings. 4 years in and im still here. That speaks volume. Since day one I have felt safe, seen and respected. Somos has always been open to any and everyone from all persons, ages and backgrounds. I honestly could do a ceremony speech on my feelings and experience with Somos. But for now ill just say if your looking to learn to dance, looking for another family or friends, looking to smile laugh this is the place. But don't look into my opinion. Come and find out yourself. I can promise you wont regret it. Tom is the best at what he does. I've seen the work he puts on behind the scenes to assure that Somos is in tip top shape and from the beginning he has remained respectful, genuine, funny and all about the community. And honestly not just Somos community the whole entire community. He has even made a summer kids programs! Check that out as well. Those with kids! Toms is great with them also. Let's go Somos🔥🔥😎😎
If you think you have two left feet, you just haven’t met the right teacher! The Somos team is so patient and amazing at teaching Salsa, Bachata, and more. Tom breaks down the steps in a way that really builds confidence and understanding. The class vibe is super inclusive, fun, and welcoming — truly my second family. I had a very disappointing experience in the past. The owner spoke about “somos,” which in my culture represents “us,” unity, and family. When I brought my daughter with me, Tom initially said it was fine for her to attend. I even offered to pay for her to learn. Later, he asked me not to bring her anymore, even though she was always calm and attentive during classes. This left me feeling excluded, and as though the cultural message of “somos” was being used more as a business slogan than something truly practiced. This happened a while ago, but similar feelings have resurfaced in my recent interactions with the owner. I also have friends who have shared with me that they felt a similar sense of inconsistency or exclusion in their own experiences. I can only speak for myself, but it reinforces the concerns I felt. This review is simply my personal perspective, and I hope it encourages more alignment between the values promoted and the way clients are treated.
The complimentary absolute beginner class was really fun and I learned soooo much about both salsa and bachata in only an hour! The teacher was incredible and the atmosphere was comfortable and really enjoyable!!!
If you're wondering whether you should try a class at Somos Dance Studio -- just do it! Somos combines world-class instruction with a welcoming community committed to fun and growth. I love the technical rigor and love for dance that Tom and all the talented teachers bring to each and every class. My partner, who was new to salsa, has grown so much in two years and is loving it here too! I also want to give a special shoutout to Sisy, who also helped choreograph our first dance for our wedding recently! Sisy was incredibly talented at designing lovely choreography that matched our shared skill levels. And she is an expert teacher at identifying and providing guidance on what's needed to level up the expression of each movement and does so clarity and kindness. We also just had so much fun laughing with Sisy during practice sessions!! Her support made our first dance experience beautiful and memorable and we feel we really improved our dance skills so much in our private sessions with her. It was a joy to see everything we learned at Somos come together in this way!!! Thank you Sisy, Tom, and Somos team!!!
