South Texas Growers has become my go-to nursery. I’ve been back three times now, and every visit has been consistently great. They carry a huge variety of healthy, high-quality plants, and the customer service is outstanding. Joanne and Mike are always a pleasure to work with, and their staff really knows local plants and what works in our South Texas climate. I’ve had great results with everything I’ve bought from them, and I plan to continue doing business with them. Highly recommended.
The lack of integrity displayed by the owners of this establishment is very disappointing! My wife bought a tree at South Texas Growers. Not too long after planting the tree, my wife was concerned the tree died, so she called South Texas Growers and spoke to Joanne Hall. During the call, Joanne advised my wife to give the tree a few more weeks to see if it springs to life, and if it doesn’t, to dig it up and bring it in. After waiting a few weeks, the tree appeared to be dead and not responding so my wife followed Joanne’s guidance and brought the tree back. Upon arriving at South Texas Growers, Joanne’s husband Mike rudely informed my wife that she killed the tree and should not have returned it. My wife explained the conversation she had with Joanne and the guidance received to return the tree. Although Joanne was standing next to Mike during this conversation, Mike continued to speak on Joanne’s behalf, clearing admonishing my wife for digging up and killing a good tree. My wife left in tears because of Mike’s demonstrably poor client relations tone. While driving home, my wife called me as she was very upset. I immediately called Mike to discuss what occurred. Rather than acknowledging that my wife merely followed the advice of his wife, he only emphasized the point that in his view my wife killed the tree. I don’t doubt that Mike and Joanne possess good nursery expertise, but character does count…which is why we will not be returning customers. I would give zero stars if I could for the lack of values and integrity Mike displayed during our experience!
I'm having a great day and this wonderful nursery, their incredibly hard working and passionate staff, and their beautiful location and the people that frequent it are all part and parcel of that! Their selection of native and xeric plants and trees were diverse, as was their selection of fruit trees! Prices are very fair and their staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Very happy to have given them my business.
Moved to the area & I have a ridiculously huge Blue Agave plant. The nursery was helpful & informative on the life cycle of the plant, how to remove & transplant the small ones. Customer service is so valuable & trusting businesses. I will be going there for my nursery needs & hope to continue to have the same experience.
