Had the pleasure of working with John. He came to my house for a free quote to fix the broken door on my TV stand. I thought he did a great job considering how bad the break was. He did not charge me anything because he felt the work wasn't up to his par. He said he could have gotten it perfect, but it would've been way to expensive for me. He was communicative throughout the process. 10 out of 10 recommend. Its rare to find a company that has these principals.

Just picked up the oval, hand carved Chinese table you can see in the pics above. The photos here in my review are before and after pictures. Please look closely. There are two after pictures showing an absolutely beautiful finished piece! Incredibly happy with the whole process. 1) I contacted him months in advance to give him time to fit me in to his busy schedule, and time to do the work. - So, in exchange he had the time to enjoy the restoration, and thus do an outstanding job. 2) It was for my wife’s birthday. - He met the deadline, first because he’s a great guy, but second because he cared to make her happy. 3) He gave an estimate after seeing the piece in person. - I don’t know if he came in over or under budget, but he honored his original estimate. He said, “I saw it in person when I estimated it. So that’s the cost.” I mean, an expert craftsman that meets expectations in budget and timeline while doing superb work. What more could you want?! We are bringing the matching minibar to him next!

Wow! John and June restored a family heirloom bed that we had broken and then stored in the garage for a few years. This is a bed from around 1880, and we love it. The bed finish was dull, and many shoddy repairs were made by my family over the last half a century. Well John took this loved but bedraggled bed from sad to spectacular, and very affordable too considering the quality work. Would 100 percent hire again

John is a true professional. He is very knowledgeable about furniture and did a beautiful job on two pieces of furniture for me. A broken bookcase and an antique sewing box. He restored the sewing box to its original condition without losing its charm. The top was warped the decal had a major scratch and when he was finished with it you would never know. I highly recommend him.

John is truly amazing! While the work he did for me was not conservation… he is a master craftsman. For decades I have wanted a hidden bookcase door and now in our mid century modern house it has finally happened… thanks to Mr. Steffen. I had gone through a list of woodworkers and contractors who said they just couldn’t do it but not John. He looked at it as a challenge and he exceeded all expectations. I feel so lucky to have found him and will happily call on him again in the future
