We like Steve & Kate's camp philosophy and we have had a good experience with the Sunnyvale camp. This one at Willow Glenn and Palo Alto one are very disappointing though. I guess they operate via franchises, and do not do any quality check over their franchises! My kids went to the Willow Glenn one today after being frustrated at the closed environment and broken machines at Palo Alto. This was worse. They operate it in a school cafeteria area, with a sticky and dirty floor with minimum activities. Place looked awful from drop off. Also, they have reduced activities. Only good thing is they could play a bit outdoors, which did not happen in Palo Alto one.
I cannot begin to explain how much our family loves Steve and Kate camp! Everyday my son is excited to go to camp where he enjoys activities like sewing, the media lab (where he has printed many 3D figurines using their 3D printer), bounce houses, water day every Friday, daily morning kickoff (where the camp comes together to play games as a whole to get the day started), and many more activities. We love Alex (the camp leader in San Jose)! Alex seems to have endless energy which the kids truly enjoy and he knows each kid and their parents by name. All of the camp leaders are outstanding and this camp as a whole is just amazing!
The manager is a rude to the workers, and is willing to risk the safety of children to avoid work.
My 5yo daughter loves S&K camp.
An excellent, well-designed summer camp with one flaw and a horrible websiet. Overall I'm very impressed by this location and by the brand as represented here. They have thought carefully about how to make the camp satisfy the needs of busy but devoted parents and their kids. There are a wide variety of interesting activieis so the kids have fun all day, and a solid quality lunch (with an entree chosen by the parent and a lot of optionals including a salad bar for the kids to select from) is included. Camp hours are flexible, with lots of drop-in activities so you can check yhour kids in as early as 7:30am and check them out as late as 6pm. You pay for the camp by buying days of attendance online, which you can then use by just showing up. The San Jose location is at a school where they can easily make sure that the kids stay in bounds and that no unidentified or unauthorized adults can get in. There are, however, two big flaws that cost them a star. First, there is no attempt to balance the kids' activieis. A kid determined to stay sedentary can g4et away with it. A kid who doesn't want to try anything that might teach them something new can get awayu with it. There's no facility for parents to monitor or adjust what their kid does at camp. Secondly, their website, which you must use to buy camp days, appears to have been created with no thought at all for usability for anybody who is not on a desktop computer with perfect vision. The fonts are skinny gray lines on a white background, which antialias into invisibility even at high magnification. On a phone the forms are hard to manage and the experience is overall jittery and messy. They are at least using secure web technology (https), but I'm unsure whether I trust them to store my credit card info; unsophisticated display programming probably means they bought their shopping cart technology from a vendor so it's probably competent, but jwithout knowiong more about their database I'm not sure how well protected it is against cybercrime.
