Response to owner: It’s been a long time since I experienced this. Maybe 2-3 months. It’s a girl who has been there a long time. Again, I used to go often and I’ve seen her there for years. Hispanic girl thin frame, pretty but very serious flat facial expression. She’s not a warm person although she says hello and isn’t overly rude she’s also not someone that I ask for help from. What i remember was when I started taking items out of a dust bag, she said “do you the receipts for these? Proof of purchase?” And I looked at her like wow okay. Maybe she should say thanks for bringing such nice items, encores policy asks that we can verify authenticity and that’s sometimes done by using receipts or COA’s. I actually had COAs inside some of my items so I’m okay with figuring out authenticity. But the problem is how she delivers her message. The underlying message was is this stuff stole or real? If something is intact stolen then ok maybe call the police if you know that but why even make someone who may be a potential seller or buyer feel uncomfortable to start off this business transaction? It’s really bad for business and from reading all the reviews over the last few years, there seem to be other women of color who have had the same troubling experiences. Just train her. She’s terribly rude and entitled. I actually want to shop again but I also don’t want to experience that again. When I’ve gone to buy from this store, they treat me fairly and respectfully. But the day I go into the store to sell a bunch of luxury and designer bags and wallets, they treated me like I was a scammer. I think if the clerk had explained that all items need COA’s that would have been more professional. Instead, she questioned whether I had a receipt of purchase. I’m a reseller and I needed to move some inventory so I could buy newer items and I buy from various sources. So I had receipts but the way she framed it and the way she looked at me and even her tone was really off putting. I am very intuitive and her attitude was rude and although covert, it made me feel like it was impossible that I had all this luxury? Maybe train your staff to think broad and not make the brown girl feel uncomfortable. I honestly felt profiled. I’ll never go back even to shop. Their prices aren’t low anymore anyway and they tend to be snooty when I’ve asked to see the items on the shelf. They act like it’s a waste of their time. I’ve bought many bags from them but I’d rather pay more than deal with their attitude and covert racism.
I have shopped 3 times at the Austin store and I have always had a great experience! Kristy the manager is amazing! But I have to agree the other girls seemed to be doing a favor for us! I have not try to sell anything and it seems all the complains come from :( For shopping, I love the store
Overall they have a good selection of clothes, but their 'customer service' is severely lacking. If you're an out of state buyer, make sure you don't dare ask any questions about the condition of UNRETURNABLE items or ask to see more photos or else you'll get rude and unprofessional responses. The people who work here need attitude adjustments before they start losing customers. I buy from Style Encore locations around the country and the other stores do not operate this way. Do better.
While using the fitting room I noticed a camera above it. I came to their google reviews where they deny it reaching the fitting room but if it makes customers uncomfortable it needs to be moved. If it’s only viewing the jewelry do some reorganizing and move the jewelry and camera to another spot. I was disappointed to see how dismissive they are of their google reviews. Every review is followed by an excuse and sometimes even snarky comment. Please move this camera and get in touch. This could be a great store with consideration from your reviews 💕
I love bargain hunting here. You can get a Lily Pulitzer smock dress for $20, Lulu Lemon tops for $12, I even got a pair of vintage Dior sunglasses for $80. I don’t care for the trade in values on my old stuff but love the deals on the new to me items!
