4.7 stars. Business dinner for our party of 12. Server and team did a wonderful job ensuring our drinks were always topped off and the evening flowed beautifully. My fillet was cooked perfectly and delicious with the Oscar topping. All appetizers ordered (shrimp cocktail, fried calamari, fried cheesesteak egg rolls) were a hit with everyone. The steaks and sides made for a superb meal. Slight ding on the food due to three members of our group who had to send their steak back b/c they were pinker than preferred. The private dining room and table setup was just right for an evening of hearty conversation and laughter. Thank you Sullivan’s Steakhouse team for a solid dinner and evening.
The filet mignon was superb. My bread pudding was also very delicious. The mashed potatoes, bread, and soup were okay. Was a bit overpriced for what it was. Server was fairly attentive. The place is pretty upscale and nice, but the food quality didn’t match the ambiance.
My partner and I chose Sullivan’s to celebrate our anniversary after seeing all the great reviews. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the experience. We aren’t very picky and are not usually ones to complain or leave bad reviews. In fact, I typically only go out of my way to write reviews for restaurants that exceed my expectations. However, this experience fell so far below the mark that I felt compelled to share. To be fair, the evening started off great—our table was decorated with roses, which was very cute and romantic. We ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls to start, which tasted amazing, along with a Caesar salad that was also good. However, it took an hour and a half for our entrées to arrive, and when they did, they were far from stellar. We ordered a Wagyu strip cooked medium and a bone-in filet mignon cooked medium rare. The Wagyu strip was slightly burnt on the outside and, honestly, much chewier than expected. While some fat is to be expected with a Wagyu cut, the large portions of extremely chewy fat were disappointing, and the same was true for the filet mignon. Both steaks also arrived lukewarm rather than hot. The sides were also lackluster for the price. We ordered the lobster mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, and Brussels sprouts. The mashed potatoes were quite bland, and the lobster contained pieces of shell. The sweet potato casserole was overly sweet, and while the Brussels sprouts had decent flavor, they were undercooked. All of the sides arrived rather cold as well. Our waitress was pleasant but not very attentive. We were rarely checked on, and she seemed to be stretched far too thin. We were seated near the kitchen, which appeared to be having issues, with numerous servers standing around waiting for food. We ended the meal with a slice of cheesecake for dessert, which was also underwhelming. To their credit, they did add a nice decorative touch to the plate. Overall, the experience was definitely not worth nearly $400 for a meal that we honestly felt we could have prepared at home for a fraction of the cost. When dining at a restaurant of this caliber, one expects a cohesive, elevated experience—from the service to each course—and we were left unimpressed. This was also the first restaurant of this tier we’ve visited for a special occasion where we did not receive a complimentary dessert. Not that it truly matters (what’s another $15 on such a large bill), but it felt notable given the nearly 90-minute wait for our entrées. What was meant to be a luxurious experience to celebrate our years together ended up feeling like an almost three-hour waste of time and money. Based on the reviews, perhaps it was just an off night—but we expected better.
We came here to celebrate our anniversary. It was a romantic restaurant with excellent service and really fantastic food. They had a happy anniversary card on the table and some rose petals, a very nice reception! One of my favorite points was that I did not feel rushed at all. It was a very leisurely dinner (several hours), and we got to really enjoy each other's company. The server was very friendly and helpful but left us to ourselves as appropriate. The food was better quality and presentation than we have had in a long time. The beef wellington bites were exceptional, and the cocktail options were interesting and creative. I got the lavender limoncello martini, my husband the wagyu old fashioned, both were fun and super tasty! We leisurely worked through our four-course meal, enjoying delicious house-made salad dressings and expertly cooked steaks. The salt crusted baked potato loaded with goodies was a real treat! It's a nice bonus that they offer several complimentary sauces for your steak as well. My husband's steak, the cowboy ribeye, was exactly what he wanted and cooked exactly as he requested. Most restaurants do not live up to his expectations of steak! Our server, Shannon, was excellent! She let us move at the pace we wanted and took her time and thought to help us choose the wine we desired, which turned out to be a perfect bottle for us. She was friendly, interactive, and recommended the perfect items for what we described. We would be very happy to return to Sullivan's and have Shannon wait on us!
Made a reservation for a birthday dinner. Came early and sat in the bar. Excellent service and atmosphere in the bar! Had some appetizers and some drinks. We tried the caviar deviled eggs, beef wellington bites, and tuna poke. Literally 5 tiny eggs of caviar on the deviled eggs, not enough to even taste it. The other two were tasty. Beautiful presentation on the drinks. Finally was seated, next to the loud kitchen, in booths that definitely need to be replaced. Absolutely NO cushion at all. We ordered a cajun ribeye with family style sides and my brother got a house cut ribeye. When the staff delivered to the table they gave us the wrong steaks, which we did not realize until 1/4 way through. When the manager came by he did not offer to replace or discount or anything. Their solution was to bring more chili oil to put on the wrong steak that was served covered in house steak sauce. Our steak was not cooked to temperature and the best part of the ribeye was burnt… which is a far cry from medium rare. Disappointing service from management. The lobster mac and cheese was not worth the price either. Chef just threw lobster on top of precooked mac/cheese. The best part of the night was our server Robin. She was exceptional. Other than that, for this price point, you are better off at Capital Grill.
