They need to rename this place Texas Grift. They were selling stuff from Ross that was $20 for $17.99. What a steal! FashionNova/Shj3n fast fashion for over $10 is also ridiculous. Most of the dresses I looked at were dirty. There was a sweater for $16 that had holes and pulls on it. Today everything is 50% off so that helps and I'm not expecting high quality stuff but this has to be the worst thrift store I have ever been to besides the Goodwill down the street in Garland. The kicker is there's also no fitting rooms here so you're paying for overpriced stuff that you can only hope fits right. The thrift store on Miller has reasonable prices, good quality items that are clean and only have holes where they are supposed to, a rewards program and fitting rooms. Texas Thrift is bigger and has a better "selection" but it isn't much a thrift if you're paying nearly the retail price for the opposite of gently used clothing.
Prices are outrageous! WHO in the world is pricing these items?! Items that have been donated. By the way these prices are looking might as well buy the items brand new! I was searching for a coat on a budget and could not believe the prices. $42.99 for a coat that was DIRTY and SMELLED like cigarettes. The management better take a second look around and try to help the community before the donations are taken elsewhere leaving their business in trouble.
This used to be my favorite thrift store but since the change in ownership it has gone downhill. The semi self checkout system is very chaotic and caused them to reduce staff. I don't like that they took jobs away from hardworking people. Some of the employees had been there years and since the change in ownership, I don't see them. They also raised the prices with the new owners, they reduced the book section (one of the best reasons to thrift is to find old books) and they don't do the 50% off sales as frequently. I still find a couple good things when I shop here but it's not like it was before they were bought out by a California company.
Evan's Senior Center stopped on a day trip. Great finds. Tuesdays is Senior discount days. 30%off.
I've been shopping at this location for about 3 years now. It is my go-to thrift store that I can walk into and know that I'm going to spend at least 2 hours checking out all of the things that they have. However I've noticed a big shift in the way this place has been run over the last six to eight months. They installed self checkout lanes (which have to be used by the employees) which have made the checkout less effecient for the flow, and their prices are crazy high right now. Their prices have always been good. They definitely weren't the lowest and cheapest, but the store was kept clean and orderly and the prices seemed in line with everything. I went a few weeks ago and I noticed the prices starting to climb up and today the prices were just insane. I usually leave with a cart full of stuff and today I didn't buy a single item. I noticed as I was leaving the store that they had the same exact bracelet that I happen to be wearing that I purchased on Shein for like $3 marked at over $7. I took note of two other items in my photos. One was a Free People Movement jacket which was very nice, but for a thrift shop it probably would have been better priced around $20 - $25 but they had it at $75. There was also a Kate Spade bag, unsure on the authenticity of it, that was in poor shape that was also over $70. I used to go to this location every 2 or 3 weeks just to see what they had because I love to add thrifted pieces to my personal wardrobe. I'm not sure that I'm going to be back for a while until they figure out what's going on with their pricing. It's like if they see something that has a brand that looks fancy they jack the price way up. I realize they have changed their discount structure as well, but with the marked prices as high as they are, I suspect these items sit for much longer. I'm all for making a profit, but the prices currently are way out of line. In the past I would also take a chance on an item not knowing if it's going to fit because they don't have dressing rooms, with the current pricing structure that is not a risk I'm going to be able to take anymore. Bottom line is, if someone's going to shop at Anthropologie they're not the same clientele that's going to try to come to a thrift store and possibly find an Anthropologie piece marked at the same price they can get it for on sale.
