I've gone a few times now, each time is better than the last. Great staff, welcoming environment, amazing experience every time for all the different levels in my fam. Kids had an epic time during day camp as well. If I could give 10 stars, I would do so happily!

Definitely a gem of downtown Durham. This bouldering gym has everything you could ask for: routes for all skill levels, a weight/yoga room for the days when you need a break, and a friendly staff/community. + can’t forget the amazing sunrises if you’re a member!

I stumbled upon a comment in a FB parents group recommending The Boulder Garden as a great place for kids to try a new activity and build some skills. I am so grateful that we gave it a chance. My 6 year old LOVES the summer camp. There is gentle and warm structure, endless and genuine encouragement, and sheer joy every single day. We are on our second week and my kiddo is still excited to arrive and sad to leave daily. Her self confidence is soaring, and she's a pretty darn good climber. I know next to nothing about climbing AND I know my kid is beyond happy and cared for here (she even backed out of her first love - gymnastics - to come back!). 10/10 would recommend. A huge thanks to Johnny, Houston, and the team!

In just the 6 months since it opened, the Boulder Garden has completely elevated the feeling of the downtown farmer’s market area and brought a new sense of community to the neighborhood. I’m very new to the sport and within my first few days visiting I felt like I had a safe community among the staff and members. The owner is bright and welcoming, and goes out of his way to make sure everyone feels included and supported. As a new climber, I was afraid that I’d be in the way or feel clumsy on the wall, but the Boulder Garden has the most supportive and encouraging atmosphere, and the folks there have made me a better (and braver) climber. The staff and routesetters have been so thoughtful in their process, set fun and creative routes for all levels of climbers, and observe and adapt each set so that there’s truly something for everybody. This has become my home over the last few months, and I’m excited to see all the ways the Boulder Garden will continue to grow.

Cool place. I took my kids there to do some rock climbing, and they were into it. The person working was very nice. They have a lot of art in the place, which gives it a chill vibe. There’s one big rock in the middle of the place that has a lot of different routes. I’d love to see them grow and use the outside space more. I wish them success. They have summer camp that caught my eye, but the hours are a bit tricky. Maybe they’ll update them in the future. Support local business and go climb their rock.
