Our visit earlier this week was the second time we have visited for a 3 course meal, followed by 3 hour full access to the spa facilities. The food was beautiful and fresh, lovely choices on the menu and accommodating for dietary requirements/vegetarians. The spa is lovely, we particularly enjoyed the outdoor barrel sauna with the sounds of rain pattering on the roof was heavenly. The staff in the spa, Anna in particular, was very attentive and welcoming. Her warm personality made me and my partner feel so at ease and she went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. Christine (or it may have been Christina! Sorry for my memory!) and Hayley were also fantastic! Exceptional customer service from all the staff, both times we have visited. We will definitely be back!
My dad bought me a package for my birthday so I went expecting to be relaxed and calm. Firstly the staff I did stumble on were polite enough…. The rest I wasn’t too impressed with and the hotel has great potential but needs attention. Room was ok, pretty basic but clean, warm and smelt fresh. The spa treatment I had was meh but ok… the spa needs updating and cleaning. The restaurant….. in desperate need of a deep clean. The table I sat at was reset but clearly not cleaned/wiped down. All the seats I could see were stained and dirty, light fixtures full of dust and the carpet had seen better days. The carvery is a bit mid level too.. for the star rating of hotel I was really expecting better. I went up to my room to sleep but was disturbed by loud drunken men talking laughing and making noise in the hallway slamming doors. I’d had enough at this point and decided to brace the fog and go home. Went to reception where I could see no staff… a sign to call 300 on the phone didn’t work. Another customer went to the bar to find staff. Staff member came & asked if I was checking in to which I said I was checking out. He took my key card, asked if I wanted an invoice to which I declined and more or less ended the convo there. No question of why I was checking out late at night, no ask of my experience. Overall horrible birthday experience. But on a good note the receptionist that checked me in (pregnant lady) and the restaurant manager were lovely. Thankyou.
Upon arrival there was a slight mix up but this was resolved very quickly, I wasn’t totally happy with the room I was offered so Christine ensured that we got a more suitable room for me and my family. To say it was Christmas Eve she was fantastic and is a huge credit to the hotel. Thank you to Joshua as well for ensuring that we had a spare bed for my child despite it not being on the booking at check in, all of the staff were great very friendly and positive they made our Christmas.
The wife and I, along with another couple, visited The Bridge Hotel for their Scrooge – A Christmas Carol dining event and had a fantastic evening. We were seated in the restaurant and offered a choice of starters — I went for the garlic mushrooms, which were excellent. The main course was a carvery; I had perfectly cooked roast beef, while my wife enjoyed both roast beef and turkey. The meal came with roast and mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. My only minor comment would be that the veg was slightly overcooked for my preference, but overall the food was very nice. All staff were friendly and attentive. For dessert there was a choice again — I opted for cheese and biscuits — followed by coffee and mince pies to finish. Between courses we were treated to a performance of Scrooge – A Christmas Carol. The actors were entertaining, humorous in parts, and genuinely first class. It really added something special to the evening. At £45 per head, I’d say the event offered good value for money, and drinks were served throughout at very reasonable prices. We thoroughly enjoyed the night and would happily recommend it.
All in all we had a very pleasant weekend. We stayed from 29th Nov to 1st Dec. The lady who booked us in on Saturday afternoon was welcoming and informed us of times (and booked us in) for dinner in the beautiful glass walled dining room. The Sunday evening meal was much better than the Saturday (Turkey so dry I was served a spoonful of bits). On Sunday all was cooked well. Also I must mention the lady who waited on our table Becky. She was efficient and pleasant.
