Make no mistake, this store has a great collection of AMAZING pieces. However, the likelihood of spending less than $100 is pretty much not an option. If you have the funds please go in and find some cool things! If you’re looking for more of “thrifting” price range you’ll want to check out other options.
A long overdue review!! I still remember the first time I walked into TGCHI…There were so many great pieces everywhere you turned in the store. I needed some help to find items for a photoshoot. Gail & Angel spent so long with me pulling items from even the depths of storage! I had a very particular set of items I wanted , and they understood my vision, took my measurements, and found exactly what I wanted. Many years later, I could still spend hours looking through the fabulous curation they have worked so hard to procure & maintain. This isn’t a thrift store… It is an amazing collection with many fine, rare pieces; that Gail, Jasja & Angel spend a lot of time and effort to keep in amazing shape. They are some of the most welcoming, creative people you could meet — and as passionate & knowledgeable about their craft as you could be. There’s much I could say, they are special people with a special shop. I can’t imagine why anyone would feel anything less than mesmerized in this place! Everyone working there is eager to help and educate, for anyone who is interested ❤️ I’m happy to have bought many of my favorite pieces here!
She was acting like I couldn't afford her clothes even though I was dressed nicely. Thought it was interesting how she was being subtly racist and then body shamed me too; just like she did to other customers who described their same exact negative experiences. You're better off going to the other vintage stores nearby. They are much kinder.
Shop keeper was upset that I took a picture of a postcard which is totally understandable then proceeded to be extremely weird towards my friend and I. She followed us a round the clothing racks to make sure we wouldn’t steal anything thinking we wouldn’t notice. My friend and I speak Spanish with one another and I believe the shop keeper woman did not approve and didn’t like to hear it. When we did purchase something I handed her the cash as one with manners would do. She proceeded to set my change on the counter and shorted my change. We felt extremely disrespected but kept our composure because the shopkeeper is an older woman and we’re two young ladies, we didn’t want to appear aggressive towards her even though she acted with absolutely no manners and made us feel cornered in the shop. The shop was lovely but I hope she sees this review so she can work on her biases and her attitude. Poor manners are expected from kids but not from elders.
I was excited to check this place out and unfortunately very disappointed 😞 They have some nice things but the prices for what you get were astronomical. Everything in the store seemed overpriced, not just a few select items that may be in better condition or be exceptionally unique. A long sleeve shirt $250...a basic dress $350...cute simple earrings $55 etc. I shop designers who sell $800+ pieces but the quality and uniqueness warrant that kind of price. There was also almost an entire wall of items on hangers roped off "Do not touch, ask for help" and I just couldn't see myself asking the only associate running the store to move 35+ items on hangers, one at a time, so I could actually shop the selection, that is terribly inconvenient. I am so sad this place didn't work out because it had so much potential.
