We dropped in for a cocktail and found lots of creative options. The one I had was delicious, although it was short on the listed sparkling wine component. We watched the bartender empty the final few drops out of a bottle, but not bother to open a new one to finish the drink. Staff were outfitted in random things like hoodies and holiday sweaters. No style and no indication that they work in an upscale cocktail bar with a sleek vibe and well-dressed patrons.
The bar area itself is gorgeous, and the food is delicious with decent sizes for small plates. Bonus points for servinv modelo. but the main area for food is a bit hidden away and the ambience from the bar doesnt travel amazingly.
When you are in Glasgow for one night and you ask for a recommendation from another cocktail enthusiast and they point you in this direction- well you would be stupid not to book a space. Atmosphere was fantastic, the place was a buzz. The drinks where lush and the small plate platters where flavoursome and delectable. Even my friends who can be fussy eaters loved it. Plus surrounded by books! Yes please! Make sure to book a space for food! We booked two hours before we got there and I am so glad we did! Will definitely be back. Favourite venue of the visit and favourite cocktail of the year!
We made reservations here just for the cocktails and the experience. We got a few appetizers but had other dinner plans. The atmosphere was great! We sat upstairs and it was all so bookish! I had the Tolkien to drink and it was so delicious.
Honestly one of the best tapas-styled places I have ever visited. We dined on a Sunday evening and had made a reservation beforehand. The service was extremely pleasant and staff were quick to react to empty water bottles and plates. Especially a big thank you to our young male server, Jordan, your approach to serving us really made our evening while dining at the Last Bookstore. Can be a bit noisy at times, as the bar is just below/adjacent to the restaurant. This however, did not bother us since we were able to converse just fine. Additionally, the atmosphere is also very cozy and nicely furnished. The food was spicy, but the dishes were perfectly balanced and delicious! Would definitely recommend to visit if you are based or visiting in Glasgow.
