Front desk called prior to my child’s appointment to discuss updating the vaccine schedule. The schedule they referenced included an additional round of the MMR vaccine that many health professionals acknowledge is not medically necessary for every child, since most kids develop immunity after the first dose. Some parents prefer to verify immunity with a simple titer test or to have a conversation about staggering doses to reduce side-effect risk. I explained that I wanted to discuss these questions directly with the doctor, but the front desk staff responded, “I’m calling on behalf of the doctor and this is our policy.” The interaction came across as: we’ll administer what we want, and there’s no room for discussion. That’s concerning for any parent who simply wants to understand what is necessary, what can be spaced out, and what the potential side effects are. For clarity, we are not “anti-vaxx” we are pro “is this appropriate for my child.” We wanted to have an open and informed conversation about: 1. Side effects 2. What vaccines are medically necessary vs. optional 3. Whether staggering certain vaccines makes sense for our child Instead, there was no willingness from the support staff to discuss or even acknowledge these questions. In a healthcare system where financial incentives often influence decisions, respectful communication matters. We truly like Dr. Sharma — she has always been excellent with our child — and this review does not reflect negatively on her. It is solely about the front desk staff, who were dismissive, unprofessional, and unwilling to engage in basic dialogue. With better communication and respect for parents’ questions, this would be a very different review. Update to response: Describing patient communication as “not a negotiation” was dismissive and confirmed my decision not to move forward with this practice.
Beautiful facility; nicest staff; excellent physicians. Sadly they have began to limit their weekend walk-ins, which is a life saver for parents of small children, and they have began to charge for answers to messages, referrals, etc. That is the reason for taking one star off as these changes have limited my use of the facility.
Dr Bensko is a phenomenal doctor. She is our pediatrician and we are so grateful for her wonderful care. Highly recommend her!
My children have been going to Northwestern children Practice for over 10 years now. Dr. Aaron King is immaculate! I’ve seen other doctors and Nurse Practitioners and they were great! Everything Dr. King does is always on point. I have a special needs child which requires a lot of attention and documentation. Anything needed from Dr. King is Johnny on the spot. Workers are very courteous and respectful. Office always nice and clean. I don’t ever wait for no more than 3 minutes, even if we’re early or late for an appointment. The urgent care flexible office hours including weekends. It will be heartbreaking to separate from Dr. King. I highly recommend, Northwestern Children’s Practice.
My husband and I highly recommend this practice. We met Dr. Adhikari when our baby was a few days old. We had to go in often at the beginning and Dr. Adhikari made us feel very at ease, and that our son was receiving the utmost care. She listens, thinks thoroughly about her recommendations, allows plenty of time for questions and, in our opinion, is the perfect balance for a pediatrician (isn't too chill, isn't too intense, aligning well with our outlook and parenting style). The nurses have all been warm, friendly, and professional. Wait times are typically short. The walk-in clinic is a great resource and the NPs we've seen have been great. We definitely recommend this practice, and specifically Dr. Adhikari.
