Working with Open Door Educational Services has been truly life-changing for our family. When we started, my daughter was overwhelmed and discouraged, she used to say she was stupid, that she couldn’t read, and she would cry in frustration. As a parent, that is heartbreaking to witness. The progress she has made in such a short period of time has been remarkable. Not only has her reading improved, but her confidence has grown in ways I didn’t know were possible. Now she reads, and watching her do so often brings me to tears, for an entirely different reason. What surprised me just as much was how much this process illuminated my own lifelong challenges with dyslexia. The understanding, compassion, and skill that Open Door brings extends beyond academics; it reshapes how a child (and a parent) sees themselves. I am deeply grateful for the impact they’ve had on my daughter’s learning, her self-belief, and on our family as a whole. 💛

Mark Graydon has been a wonderful tutor for my daughter over the past several years. Her dyslexia presented unique challenges, but Mark approached them with empathy, expertise, and adaptability. He continually adjusted his methods to suit her progression, ensuring she felt supported while steadily improving. Most importantly, he kept her engaged and motivated through every step of the journey. I cannot recall a single instance where she did not want to participate in a session with Mark. He has not only enhanced her academic skills but also strengthened her confidence. I am deeply grateful for his dedication and care. A special shout out to Pam Graydon, Leigha Brigham and Heather Weddell as well. I can honestly say that Open Door has truly made a lasting difference.

Parents, I highly recommend the Open Door’s Pam Graydon for anyone seeking a dyslexia assessment ! She’s warm, friendly, and made my son feel at ease despite his anxiety about testing. Her assessment was far more detailed and insightful than previous ones we’ve had done by psychologists. She takes the time to explain each tool and cross-references the results with dyslexia traits, providing a clear and comprehensive report. If you're deciding between getting a dyslexia screening done through Open Door, or going to a psychologist, in my experience you'll get more useful information from the Open Door screening, at a lower cost. We’re so grateful for Pam’s expertise!

Our tutor is exceptionally skillful, kind, and patient. My son looks forward to her visits twice a week. After one month his reading has already improved. She comes to us so the whole process is stress-free. We are all so happy to have her in our lives!

The Open Door has been life changing for my gifted and dyslexic now-13 year old. Like many other very bright kids, he was not identified until later (Gr 4) as the giftedness and dyslexia were masking each other. Now in Gr 8, he was recently described as a "speed reader" by a classmate. When I say that The Open Door and his tutor have changed his life, I'm not exaggerating. They were recommended by the psychologist who did his educational assessment and we could not be happier.
