Ok food, disappointing service. I came here for my birthday meal and was sadly disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend here for a special occasion. We booked very in advance but waiting 30 mins before even our drinks order was taken. We ordered focaccia as a starter and olive oil and balsamic was an extra £2! My pesto pasta was good, but my mum really disliked the lasagna. It was dry and tasteless. Service was overall slow and unengaged. I wouldn’t come back.
Lovely meal overall and a great spot for comforting Italian food. The spinaci ravioli was the highlight for me, well cooked, flavourful, and paired beautifully with the sauce. The lasagna was rich and satisfying, with generous portions and a homemade feel. A solid place for pasta lovers, with good quality ingredients and a warm, relaxed atmosphere.
My partner and I visited The Pasta Factory about two weeks ago for our date night. I was super excited to go because of the rave reviews but to be honest, I left feeling disappointed. To start, when we entered the restaurant there was a weird & unpleasant smell, kind of like a smelly toilet? I can’t describe it but it wasn’t nice. When we were seated, we were put on a table in the corner right by the toilets and kitchen, which wasn’t nicely lit with candles like the other tables and the bright kitchen light behind us was distracting. I personally don’t think there should be a table here. Even the chairs were different, and it was very clearly the ‘bad’ table to be sat at which was annoying. We decided to order starters first before choosing our mains. The starters came out in decent time, but we received only one correct item. Because we had been eyeing up the meatballs anyway (which we received but hadn’t ordered) we decided to just eat them anyway and they were decent. The olives were good, the bread a bit chewy but that’s just my personal preference I suppose. The oil and balsamic was good. When our mains arrived, I instantly noticed that my partner’s plate was steaming with the heat of the dish, whilst mine was not. I mixed the pasta around, had a taste, and to my great disappointment it was lukewarm. My partner’s was a good temperature though. To add to that, my dish was frankly awful (the carbonara). I was only able to eat 1/4 of the dish because it was that bad. I don’t think it helped that it was barely hot. The sauce was a mess palette-wise and the pasta was so chewy it was sticking to my teeth. In saying that though, my partner enjoyed his seafood dish and upon trying mine said ‘it’s not great but it’s not awful’. Service was good from a lady with black hair (I think) and long nails. She was very friendly and personable. The rest of the staff were meh but having worked in hospitality myself I can’t fault them too much. Oh also the bathroom was dirty, which is a big no no for me! All in all, I left disappointed and hungry. Whilst there were certainly positives, this place just didn’t deliver in enough ways to warrant a return visit.
Second visit to Pasta Factory! Their homemade pasta never lets us down. Highly recommend the Carbonara, it’s rich and perfectly balanced. The Ragu was alright. A huge plus: it’s dog friendly! Always nice to enjoy good pasta with our pup by our side. 🐶🍝
Beautiful food! Went with the ravioli agli spinaci and the insalata verde, which was really simple but delicious. The ravioli was light and fresh but filling. For dessert we had the special- panna cotta with a berry coulis. This was very smooth with a generous about of coulis which was certainly appreciated. Overall, food was wonderful and exactly what we wanted.
