If you are searching for the best tattoo artist near Los Angeles, I can confidently say that John Smith at The Raven and The Wolves is hands down the top choice. In my opinion, John Smith is not only the best tattoo artist in Los Angeles, but the best tattoo artist in the United States. My wife, Chelsea, just completed an intense 4-day tattoo sitting with John, and the entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. His level of professionalism, attention to detail, and artistic skill are unmatched. Long sessions can be exhausting, but John made the process comfortable, positive, and smooth the entire time. He was incredibly kind, patient, and easy to talk to, which makes a huge difference when you’re spending multiple full days in the chair. The quality of his work speaks for itself—clean lines, flawless shading, and a true mastery of tattoo artistry. If you are looking for a top-rated tattoo shop near Los Angeles or a world-class tattoo artist in Southern California, The Raven and The Wolves should be your first stop, and John Smith should be your artist. From customer care to artistic excellence, John Smith delivers a five-star experience. If you want the best tattoo artist in LA, the best realism / custom tattoo artist near me, or simply the best tattoo artist in the USA, in my opinion, no one compares to John Smith at The Raven and The Wolves.

This was my first tattoo. I spent a long time trying to find an artist who would listen to me and help me recreate the image that I had in my head that I’ve wanted tattooed for near a decade now. Everything about my experience here was wonderful. Eran was fantastic at answering all my first-timer questions upon initial correspondence regarding the tattoo. Andrew was a dream to work with. Listened to my ideas and politely told me what would work and what wouldn’t. He walked me through all parts of the process, made sure I was okay through the pain, and was easy to talk to! I thought I would feel alienated and out of place in a tattoo studio given that I walked in with absolutely no ink, but everyone in the shop who came by to look at the piece was so nice and welcoming. I don’t think I could have imagined a better first experience. I felt safe, seen, and valued. My husband now has the itch to get himself another tattoo (a skeletal jester), and we will likely return for that piece, as well.
