As an asian man I find it extremely difficult in general to find someone who can cut my hair right. Saw a whole bunch of 5 star reviews for montez so I figured I'd try him out. I don't know much about hair so I wasn't really able to guide him to what I wanted exactly, but my end result was not good. First off, my appointment started 20 minutes late, which is fine, I get it, I took it as thinking it was because montez took extra time to get his haircuts right, but this was not the case for me. As there was a walk in waiting to go after me, I felt like my haircut was rushed. Everytime montez asked me what else I wanted different I couldn't tell him exactly what because I'm not a professional, but I knew it didn't look right. Eventually I just told him it looks good and called it and now unless I work some magic with hair products my hair looks like this (see pic). And there's uneven bits of longer hair all around my head.

After trying out a few different places and barbers in the Durham/Chapel Hill area, I found Monteze. Monteze has been cutting my hair for about a year now and has been doing an awesome job. The attention to detail is top notch and it never feels like he's in a rush to get you in and out fast as possible like some other places. I will be getting married soon and of course I called Monteze to get me right. Highly recommend Monteze and this shop!

It’s been about 8 months since I decided to cut my locs with around 4 years of length. With the professionalism and great haircut from Monteze, I’ve been back every two weeks. I always receive top tier customer service not just by Monteze but the entire staff. Definitely will continue to support this grooming lounge as I am never disappointed.

Monteze G. is one of the most patient, personable, and skilled barbers I’ve ever met. Having done such great work with my son (5) and my nephew (18), I feel confident that his work on my upcoming appointment will exceed my expectations as they have multiple times over! Update: My expectations were indeed exceeded. Razor shaving a bald head in a way that respects the skin is a talent. The difference between shaping a beard in a way that looks maintained and not manicured is literally a fine line. “My barber” understands both and delivered the service with just the right personal touch.

Sorry for the long Review but it’s well deserved: First and foremost, I just want to say WOW! Ladies and gentlemen, when you’re doing your research, make sure you scroll a little further down before choosing your person. About a week ago, I decided I wanted to cut my hair after some heat damage, and since I didn’t have the patience to go through the motions , I began looking up barbershops. That’s when I came across Renaissance and kept seeing people mention the well-known Jordan. I decided to give them a call, and to my surprise, Jordan himself picked up the phone. He was available right away for a consultation, and from the very start he was polite, personable, and welcoming. He kept communication open throughout the entire process and even asked for my input on the style I wanted, making sure it suited my head shape and overall look. On the day of my cut, I felt extremely comfortable as if I had known him already. That’s something I’ve rarely experienced in barbershops, but this time was different. It truly felt like a blessing, and I’m so thankful to have met such a wonderful individual. Jordan’s work is filled with love and passion, and it shows in the way he carries himself and his craft. I just want to sincerely thank Jordan, and may God continue to bless him in every way. He will always be my number one choice, and I’ll gladly recommend him to anyone whether it’s someone looking for a barber or one of my girls wanting to start fresh with a new cut.
