Jenina completely changed my experience with extensions!!!! I had been getting them for years at another salon, but after dealing with significant damage to my hair (and my bank account) I finally gave up on extensions altogether. That changed the day I walked into Velvet Mane and met Jenina. Her level of expertise and attention to detail is on another level. She was the first stylist who ever explained that there are different types of K-Tips designed for different hair types and introduced me to a brand specifically made for finer hair like mine. That alone made a huge difference. What really sets Jenina apart is how much she prioritizes the health of your hair and the client’s long-term experience — not just selling you more hair, services, or product. She strategically cut my extensions down near the front so they’d blend better and put less stress on my natural hair. Because of that approach, for the first time in my life I didn’t lose a single extension between appointments. And trust me, I am not a wizard at upkeep… so that says a lot! She also rebonds the tips when it’s time to move them up, which means you don’t have to buy brand-new packs of hair every time. That alone saves clients a significant amount of money — something many stylists simply don’t offer. Instead of pushing me to replace everything every 8 weeks (which is what I had been doing in those years prior), she suggested a simple 9-week check-in. When I came in, we both looked at the extensions and agreed they were still holding up beautifully — so there was no need to replace anything. Most stylists would have told me to spend the money anyway, but Jenina genuinely puts the client first **Another bonus** she’s completely fine with you working on your laptop in the chair, which makes a big difference when appointments take a few hours. *Also, for those of us girlies who hate small talk, she’s so chill that you do not feel pressured into chit chat if that ain’t your thing!! At the end of the day, Jenina’s expertise, honesty, and execution are what has quickly made me a loyal customer… and it doesn’t hurt that Velvet Mane is also a gorgeous salon. I recently went to Garrett at Velvet Mane for an all over color and one row of extensions. I have suffered hair loss and Garrett truly went above and beyond, he did a full consultation and answered all my questions, then executed my color and extension sew in flawlessly.
