Great Food, Fair Price! My Wifie and I had a fantastic lunch at the Virgin Sturgeon. The food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable, especially given the quality. I highly recommend the sturgeon with lemon capers—it was cooked perfectly and the flavors were spot-on. My wife loved her crab sandwich. The atmosphere was also great, and the service was friendly. We'll definitely be back! This place is best if you're getting off your jetski or boat.
It was our 1st time here and honestly we probably won't go back. It is very hot and humid in the restaurant itself probably best to go on the fall/winter. We waited at the host stand maybe 5 minutes before someone actually showed up to even greet us . When we finally got seated our host didn't seem like she really wanted to do her job. I ordered a soda which was brought to me in a dirty glass and she said "oh it was a glass from the bar it's just tajin" when I looked up at her she then offered to grab a new one. As far as the food it was tasty I got the I believe snow crab sandwich on sourdough with the side option of soup of the day which was chicken tortilla and my husband got the steak sandwich (upcharge for the grilled onions and mushrooms $4)
what a beautiful spot. unfortunately, this place reminds me of a deep south bar of the 1950 era. they made a wonderful Midori sour but they'll never see my face again. and from the way they treated my table I don't think they want to see us again. there's better food, atmosphere and company to share in the area. avoid if you can....
This restaurant caught my eye while searching for a place to eat in the area, and the idea of dining right next to the water while enjoying seafood sounded perfect. Located along the Sacramento River, you reach it by walking down a tunnel-like pathway that leads directly to the entrance. The moment you step inside, the humidity hits you. All the windows were open and the ceiling fans were running, but it was still uncomfortably warm and sticky. Most of the diners appeared to be in the 60+ crowd, giving the place a more mature, relaxed vibe. For drinks, I tried the Sturgeon Whisperer. It was so light it tasted like it barely had any alcohol in it. The smoked sturgeon appetizer came on a bed of greens but was underwhelming—bland and lacking character. The house specialty, grilled sturgeon with Cajun seasoning, was moist and cooked perfectly but needed a serious boost in flavor—salt, hot sauce, anything to wake it up. The side of rice was tasty, but the steamed vegetables were just average. I imagine this restaurant would be a much better experience on a cooler day. Adding misting systems or stronger cooling fans would make a big difference. The space itself could also benefit from some updating, especially for a spot with such a prime riverfront location. On the plus side, the bathroom was clean, and our server was pleasant and attentive. Don’t forget to Follow @Only1Christinelu For more foodie stops
Cool little place and service was great but the food was severely lacking. I gave them 2 stars on the food just because their Mai Tai cocktail was the best I’ve had since visiting Maui. It was amazing and definitely recommend going here for cocktails only. We started with the combo appetizer that had shrimp, smoked salmon (tasted very fishy) and sturgeon (overcooked and tasted like dirt) I got the Famous Crab sandwich which is a crab salad on white toast. Lots of crab but there was nothing else in it except mayo and maybe some spices but all I could taste is crab. Very bland. No celery, onions or other crunchy veggies to break up the “mush” texture but there were tomatoes on the sandwich. It was a good price $21 for the amount of crab that you get. There were some pieces of shell in the sandwich but you’ll have that so it wasn’t really an issue for me. It came on a very hot plate and I thought that was odd since it was cold seafood. I had a stomach ache and bowel issues for 2 days after eating here. Not very many parking spaces, possibly 10. There was a ramp to go down to the restaurant but I would definitely not call it wheelchair accessible due to how steep it was!
