I visited the spa today after not going for many years, my last visit was in the first couple of years after it opened and I had enjoyed it immensely back then. I had read some recent reviews that gave a negative impression of the spa, from dirty floors, overcrowding, and saunas that were not hot enough and smelt of feet (:)) and my experience couldn't have been further from that. We picked a quiet weekday, and it was divine, despite the poor weather forecast due to storm Chandra, which turned out to be pretty non existent luckily in Bath. We started at the the rooftop pool - which was a delight. Birds flying over our heads and great views, then the areas with the lovely bubbles and waterfall that gives the best shoulder massage! The steam/sauna rooms were next. I don't understand the poor reviews of not hot enough...sitting against the infrared panels in the wooden sauna was so hot and relaxing, as were the other steam rooms. My one point deducted is for the the cold showers which I feel were not cold enough (should be bracing), the lack of aromatherapy in the sauna/steam rooms (which many years ago smelt of eucalyptus etc and were a sensory delight), the ice room being impossible due to not being able to see due to the mist, and the poor signage to lead you to the toilets or lifts on each floor. I was supporting my friend there today who is registered blind and we struggled to find the lifts and toilets as although it here are signs leading you to the toilets from the floor you are on, when you get to the floor, there is a lack of signage. We found ourselves going up and down until we had figured it out (lol). I also feel it would be nice to have the pool noodles out so you can use them. I remember years ago they were freely available. Overall though I cannot wait to go back, a superb experience, and great that you can stop halfway for refreshments in the cafe, and you get an additional half hour ❤️
Disappointing experience. Was very overcrowded- no slippers were provided. The pools were lukewarm at best.. could have been hotter. No real private showers and they were cold! Locks didn’t work on the 4 private showers they did have. Poor system with the robes as people kept walking off with my robe. Sauna and steam rooms were not very hot either.. not exactly a spa experience. Strict 2 hour limit with penalties for every 10 minutes you go over it. Much better places to spend your money. Strict no phone policy where they watch you lock your phone away and you cannot access it until they unlock it for you on exit
No fotos inside allowed, a quite pricy (entrance fee 42,50 £ p.P.) but also a rather special place to experience Britain's one and only hot thermal spa fountain. Wonderful bathing in the top roof pool with views on the historic city center...
Thermae Bath Spa is a really relaxing experience and well worth a visit. Ground Floor Reception area and the No.8 Shop. Upper Ground Floor Changing rooms and lockers. First Floor Massage suite, Springs Café and Restaurant where you can get an extra 30 minutes if you spend something, plus a nice relaxation area. Second Floor Wellness Suite with Roman and Georgian steam rooms, infrared sauna, ice chamber and Celestial relaxation room, plus an outdoor terrace. Third Floor The rooftop pool with incredible views, especially on cold days. It is filled with naturally heated mineral rich spring water and kept at a lovely warm temperature. There is also a built in jacuzzi section which makes it extra relaxing. Easily my favourite part of the whole visit. Lower Ground Floor The Minerva Bath is much bigger than the rooftop pool, also heated with natural hot spring water and jacuzzi features built in. The historic Hot Bath is here too, accessed by a sloping corridor. You get two hours spa time with the option of an extra 30 minutes if you use the café, and they provide a free towel and robe which is really handy. Staff are welcoming and friendly, and I also liked that phones are locked away in a pouch until you finish which makes it much more peaceful without distractions. A couple of negatives though. The changing rooms are unisex but not clearly signed which can feel awkward, although there are private cubicles to use. The lockers are also overcomplicated with the wristband system, a simple key or coin locker would be much easier. Overall it is a brilliant way to spend a few hours in Bath and a unique chance to enjoy the city’s famous natural hot springs.
I had a thoroughly positive experience at this facility. The premises are well-maintained and efficiently organized. The multi-level structure includes a heated swimming pool on both the ground floor and the rooftop, offering a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The sauna rooms, located on the middle level, are clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend the two-hour spa treatment—it was both enjoyable and deeply relaxing, and a perfect way to unwind. Phone is not allowed inside the picture are from the nice building cross the road.
