This review might be a little long-winded. I can’t remember if I left one already before, but if I had, consider this an update. We did the beginner board and train with my 5 month old Great Pyrenees. As I’m sure any dog lover knows, this breed is notoriously independent, and takes commands as suggestions. What I was primarily looking for when contacting Untamed Dog Co was someone to help my dog learn the basics. Crate training 100% would have driven me nuts without the help. Same with potty training; which, grated, we DID still struggle with after the training, but that is solely because my dog is ridiculously stubborn. Because of the foundations set in her time here, it was easily trained out swiftly when she came back home. I understand people have mixed opinions about doggy boarding schools. What sets Untamed Dog Co apart is it is not done in an isolated facility, where dogs are left alone a good chunk of time. There is also not an overwhelming amount of dogs taken at once. They have constant care, one on one time, and are always within arm’s length should they be struggling or uncomfortable for any reason. This is a significantly different experience than the one many people have in mind when they think of a board and train program, and it is VERY effective! My puppy not only learned a lot, but had a blast as well. This being said, after the program, you have some one on one training sessions in which YOU, the owner, learn how to carry on what your dog has already learned. With this, you can teach them even more - and Untamed Dog Co has loads of resources for this, too. Where we are now: it’s been several months since Venus came here. (Over a year, I think?) And she has shaped up to be the smartest girl ever. She is far more well-trained than any other Pyr I know, lol! She is well-mannered in public; I take her everywhere that she’s allowed. She does not get distracted by people or other animals on walks or in stores. On top of this, I can trust her off leash in an emergency. Often times we walk around the property off leash and she never leaves my side. I could not have gotten here without the help from Mariano and Emily. They set my puppy up for success, and helped me in guiding her on my own. Every penny was worth it. I can’t thank you guys enough!

Our dog was labeled ‘danger dog’ in our community. Although we knew she was not aggressive, her reactivity left me feeling hopeless. In a last ditch effort we met with Mario to see if there was a chance she could be helped. Fully expecting the 4 week board and train option, Mario advised that she would only need the 10 week training session. Within 2 visits we saw drastic improvement. We are at 8 weeks now and have a completely different dog! She no longer reacts to people or other animals in an aggressive way. She has become curious about them. She auto sits and looks to us when a trigger presents itself. She is still learning but I now have the confidence that I can handle her. My only regret is not finding him sooner.

Mariano is a wonderful trainer and teacher. He has helped me so much with my leash reactive Great Dane. Every session I walk away with more knowledge and the ability to deepen my relationship with my dog. He really focuses on the physiology and how dogs think vs just mindless commands.

My pit mix is fearful and aggressive towards all people. We saw other trainers with no improvement. I found Mariano and even though I only had a short amount of time to work with him before relocating, he completely transformed my relationship with my dog. Now, I am so confident walking him around other people, his recall is nearly perfect and overall his (and my) confidence has significantly improved. My dogs fear and nervousness has also continued to improve using the techniques we were taught. I truly feel he has essentially saved my dogs life and I am eternally grateful for his help. -Gordon, Andrew and Amy

I have a dog that over time became aggressive toward strangers and more importantly people at boarding facilities. It got to the point where I was never going to be able to leave my home for a vacation or to visit my grandchild unless I either found a boarding facility that would take him or I put the dog down. I tried several very well regarded trainers but they could never develop a relationship with the dog to get close enough to him to train him. It became such an issue that I had scheduled the appointment to put the dog down. To make sure I exhausted all avenues I made an appointment with Mariano at Untamed Dog to evaluate my dog. Mariano was recommended by one of the previous trainers that didn’t work out. Mariano correctly identified that no other trainer had ever developed a relationship with the dog so that he could “actually” be trained. Mariano felt he could develop that relationship. The day before I was scheduled to put the dog down I dropped him off for a 4 week board and train. That was a close call. The end result was a resounding success. We would meet back with Mariano and our dog weekly to observe the dog’s progress and more importantly to be trained in the activities that we would need to continue upon the dog’s return home to keep his training in place. Untamed Dog also posted progress videos and photos on Instagram which were very helpful. And even though Mariano took a lead role with our dog because of his history he was also able to get his other trainers to build a friendly relationship with our dog which further expanded his progress. I also have another dog who also became an issue with boarding facilities. So I also enrolled him with Untamed Dog for a three week board and train program. He also developed a very strong bond with everyone. Since Untamed Dog also offers boarding to graduates of the their training I now have a happy and safe place to board my dogs for the rest of their lives. I couldn’t be more grateful to Mariano and his team
