Awesome 5 Star experience at Uptown Cheapskate on Burnet Road! Friendly staff welcomed me back, quickly assessed items I brought for review and processed a trade. Best selection of vintage, too! Love this place!
I brought in some men's suits and jackets that no longer fit. The customer service was snobby and a little rude. Immediate turn off. This is a thrift store people, not Nordstrom's. I had to wait 40 minutes to get a 'buyer' to review my items and make an offer. They were very very nit picky about what they will and will not take. No pleated slacks, they don't sell. Ok. This is a thrift store right? I looked to see how much rack space they dedicate to men's suits and jackets. One small circular rack and I did not see any items I would consider buying. They wanted my navy pin-striped suit. Ok, funny though they are not really in style right now. Their idea of style and say, Dillard's or Nordstrom's is maybe not the same? Ok. I looked at their rack prices. Wow! They need to take 'Cheapskate' out of the store name. I don't think I will be back. I would rather just donate to Goodwill or Salvation Army. Update: I have since taken some remaining higher-end used clothing items to Goodwill. That is what I have done in the past and I will just continue doing that. Ok, it's not a thrift store technically speaking. But,they are happy to take donated items, 'if they meet their buyer criteria'. That is pretty close to what I consider a thrift store. Service - meh Selection - meh Value - nope
This store is amazing, not only are the staff super friendly and approachable, but the selection and diversity of clothing is unrivaled in a city that is saturated with thrift stores! I leave so happy every time and can’t wait to go back to see what they have! I will be a customer for life!
I love love this store!! If you are looking for gently used items. I would highly recommend this store. Most of the items have store tags attached and are brand new!!
I love having an Uptown Cheapskate in North Austin along Burnet Road! Big location with cute murals out front promoting sustainability. I didn’t end up buying anything but there’s lots of inventory and prices align with other locations. Will definitely return!
