Last night I had a horrible experience. I just moved to the area and got a new job. My job did not approve of my acrylic set and told me to get them removed and get a natural gel set. I called Uptown Nail Spa two times about getting my acrylics removed and potentially wanting to pay for a gel set. I even called to let them know I was on the way, and where the parking was, due to not finding it. I walk in the store a little after 6 pm (mind you they close at 8 pm). I tell them what I need and the man responds “so that’s it?? Just your nails removed? Not a new set?” I was going back and forth in my mind depending on the experience if I would spend more money and get a new set. (So far, we were off to a rough start.) I nod my head yes and the man tells me they have no time for me and they are extremely busy. I then proceed to tell him that I spoke to a woman on the phone and she did not tell me any of this, therefore I would not have came. The woman who spoke to me on the phone comes up to me and says since I am a “walk in” they cannot help me. Which I repeated to her, that I called multiple times earlier and was never told that I cannot come in. The woman responds; “well, we can take you but if we do…. Since we are so busy, you will have to wait a very long time. That being said, do you still want to wait?” I tell her, “yes, I have to, because I have work tomorrow and they need to be off.” The woman than looks annoyed and IMMEDIATELY SEATS ME WITH SOMEONE. That really made me upset. Is this because the service is only $15 and no one wanted to waste their time on me?? Little did they know, I was thinking about also getting an entirely new natural gel set. Another woman paced in front of me glaring at me and she finally says “what do you need off?!” I begin to tell her “well I called and -…” The woman immediately cuts me off and says “yes! I know you called! But what is it?! Polish? Acrylics?!” I then take a minute to gather myself… the place was extremely busy and there were SOO many clients staring at the way I was being treated. It was so awkward and uncomfortable, that I get up and tell them that I will not be spending my money here. The woman than softens her tone and apologizes saying she is just wondering what I need done, but at that point I think she realized how many of the clients were listening into our conversation. I walked out of the store feeling very undervalued as a customer, which is unfortunate bc I love getting my nails done and I live right by this place now! Anyways, I then went to a nail place in oak cliff, they were extremely kind and I told them the same thing… “I only want my acrylics removed.” They immediately sat me down and took care of me. Due to their kindness I spent more money and got the gel set I was wanting. I am sure that when those nails techs first started their career, they would have taken anyone. No matter how small the service. I hope this is a lesson to the employees to be humble and remember where they came from.
