Nice teachers. Impossible parking. Uncaring administrators. I think for the most part, the teacher’s are good but the UTSA administrators just don’t care about the students at all. For that reason, I will not be returning. Instead, I’ll take workshops and private lessons from San Antonio’s local small businesses and artists. There are a lot of good options. Oh, and Larry the Stained Glass teacher is horrible. I mean really really terrible beyond any comparison. Imagine Jack Black teaching a stained glass class but without the actual teaching and absolutely no ability to be funny. It’s like that. Now about the parking. They moved the architecture school to the Southwest campus which adds lots of new students without making any plans for parking. I came 25 minutes early and there were no spots in any of the lots. The street parking also full. I found two hour parking a few blocks away but there were super sketchy people hanging around so I didn’t want to leave my car. There is the Library parking but there are a lot of homeless people there as well. Again, I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my car. The University has security patrolling so it’s pretty safe on the actual campus but beyond that, it’s in a really rough part of town. Take classes here at your own risk. For me, it’s not worth it.
