Steve completed a fabulous repair on my Linn Klout. I had begun to despair of my chances of finding somebody who would bring a cherished piece of equipment back to life. I contacted Steve, who had just started to take in Klouts for repair. I gave him a call and took it over. Steve replaced a number of capacitors, gave it a service and lo and behold the green lights are back on for the first time in a long while! Many thanks Steve, a great job at a very fair price.
Even though I didn't buy the Minos speed controller directly from Valhalla Electronics, Steve has been very helpful passing information on how to install it inside my Systemdek 11X turntable. I live in an area where the mains frequency varies all the time from 49.79 hz up to 50.15 hz. As a result Systemdek's standard power supply would give me speeds relative to the mains frequency, continuously varying from 33.20 RPM up to 33.50 RPM. The Valhalla Electronics Minos speed controller crystal locks the frequency thereby giving rock solid RPM. And the controller is adjustable via a USB link to a laptop should you need to make tweaks to the default settings. The Minos gives my Systemdek 11X a solid foundation to the music, particularly in the bass region where there's slam with agility. Piano performances are faultless without wavering notes. This power supply meets my expectations. I cannot recommend it enough if you live in area with fluctuating mains frequency.
I contacted Valhalla Electronics with a question about a power supply and dealer locations. Steve tried to call me straight away and then wrote to me with all the information I needed to get my LP12 upgraded to a Minos PSU at a dealer near me (Loud and Clear Glasgow). I have now had the Minos in my LP12 for a few days and it is a wonderful piece of kit, allowing me to effortlessly switch between 33 and 45 rpm, and delivering a consistant speed silently, all at the push of a button. Although I have had a couple of other tweaks made at the same time, the Minos has certainly contributed greatly to the punchier bass, wider soundstage and crystal clear upper frequencies that I now enjoy. I'm very happy with it. Incredible customer service, excellent value for money and highly recommended.
