Honestly, I've always had good vet experiences, but this was the best! My cat started showing symptoms of bladder obstruction- IYKYK - at bedtime on a Thursday. Since its serious, I got on the phone to emergency vets as I drove towards the city. Of the 4 I called, this place said come right away, we will see him as soon as you arrive. And they did! I barely put the carrier down once in the lobby and he was whisked away for examination. They has also laid out the fee to see a vet at 1230 am on the phone so I was aware in advance. Once he had been examined, the testing options were clearly presented, then quickly performed, then I was consulted again before treatment was given. The costs were very reasonable compared to stories I've heard from others with similar cat issues (total cost was 550 for exam, tests, and injections for pain and antibiotics, all done on site in a couple of hours overnight). Despite him peeing on them, everyone was lovely to deal with and careful with my kitty. Highly recommended.
We brought our boy Häagen in after being diagnosed with a mast cell tumour in August 2024 and Dr. Galway happily saw us and showed us techniques in wrapping his paw after healing issues with the biopsy performed at another location. We were treated so well by all the staff, and were in communication throughout the past 14 months. Yesterday we brought Häagen for his final visit and the staff and Dr. Galway made us very comfortable through the process of comforting him until he passed. We will forever be thankful to the clinic staff, Dr. Galway and while I write this with tears in my eyes, I will always remember our beautiful boys last moments were made peaceful thanks to all these wonderful people at VCA.
Our 4 month old puppy, El Chapo, was in very poor shape when we arrived at our cottage and he needed to be seen by a vet. I drove to Ottawa, while my wife called ahead to try and find the best place on a Sunday afternoon. She sent me here. When I arrived they were ready for us and took Chapo in immediately. My wife and I thought that Chapo was going to die! After some quick testing and observation I was told that Chapo had probably eaten marijuana in the parking lot of a dollar store that we stopped at. And that he just needed to sleep it off. I could leave him at the clinic overnight, and they could do further testing, but they suggested taking him home and letting him sleep it off and to bring him back if he worsened. At 4AM, I woke and stuck my hand in his cage, and my heart soared because Chapo was standing up and ready to go for a walk. My wife (Susannah) and I are eternally gratefull to the staff of the VCA Canada Ottawa Veterinary Hospital! The staff, vet and facilities are wonderful!
What an amazing and special surprise! I had to bring my dog in for an unexpected visit and had already resigned myself to paying a certain amount for the accident. I didn’t know they were running a limited-time promotion, so it was such a wonderful surprise — and the care we received was absolutely top-notch. From start to finish — receptionist, vet tech, veterinarian, and back again — everyone was warm, friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. Usually my dog is scared stiff at the vet and the whole experience is stressful for us both, but this visit felt calm and reassuring. While he was still a little nervous, he was treated so gently and compassionately that it made all the difference. The wait was very short, the process was smooth, and I felt my dog was in the best hands every step of the way. And the cherry on top? I ended up paying less than half of what I expected. Exceptional service, exceptional people, and such a happy outcome for both me and my pup. Thank you! 🐾❤️
Thank you to everyone at the VCA Ottawa, I can't say enough good things about this veterinary hospital. From start to finish, the entire experience was outstanding. The staff were incredibly professional and kind, making both me and my dog feel completely at ease. The veterinarian was very compassionate, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. My dog had to undergo surgery, and I was amazed at how smoothly and quickly everything went—it truly couldn’t have gone better. They're also well-equipped for emergencies, which gave me so much peace of mind. This is hands down the best vet I've ever had. It's worth noting that they are not cheap, but the extra money I spent was absolutely worth it, their level of service is truly top of the line. I honestly wish I had a doctor or private clinic that treated me as well as they treated my pet. I'd gladly pay extra for this level of professionalism. Absolutely recommended to anyone.
