We had a great experience with Dr. Kupanoff. She was incredibly attentive, personable, and very communicative throughout the entire process. Our goldendoodle Charlie had surgery for an intramuscular lipoma, and she always made time for us, including multiple phone check ins, which gave us so much peace of mind. She did an amazing job, and Charlie’s recovery went smoothly and better than we could have hoped. We are so grateful for the care, time, and attention she gave both Charlie and us. We truly have a happy, healthy boy because of her, and we appreciate everything she did.
I feel very comfortable when any of my dogs are at VetMed, which has some of the finest recognized physicians in Arizona. I also appreciate the immediate care, support & response I receive from everyone on staff. I also am very grateful that I can visit my sick furries even when I show up spontaneously.
My four year old cat Mimzy was diagnosed with end stage kidney failure. She was loved by Jess, and it was clear by my frequent updates. Front desk staff was so kind and warm. All her doctors were extremely thorough and empathetic of the situation given that sweet Mimzy was so young. Jess, Dr. Turner, Dr. Lee, and Dr. H (unsure how to spell her name) were an amazing team and I know they took great care of my girl. I work in the field and I know they did everything they could for her. I took her home for a few days and she was playing, eating, and enjoying time with her brother. What I appreciated most was the compassion and empathy I felt by everyone on the team. Mimzy unfortunately passed away a few days after bringing her home because she went into heart failure, her little body couldn’t handle the treatment for her kidneys. She will be missed by many❤️🩹
The doctors here are just awful. Use their facilities for any traumatic situation or for stabilization but never trust anything they say. In the last two years after new administration they have even gone to a new level of horrible. Before I delve into history last episode a day ago. Dog had a known issue and everything is expected and she's 14 years old well past expected life but still lives like a puppy. All of a sudden she had internal bleeding which was eventually going to happen and brought her in due to a collapse to see if she could get stabilized. I opted out of surgery that would take a year for a dog that likely would not survive it due to her age and would live in pain for the last of it. Was going to euthanize as suggested but she stood up and her gums started to get some color, And as my Midwest vet with 50 years experience said I did the right thing taking her home to give her a fighting chance for some more time as she has been so happy and active even with her condition every day (which when showed videos of gave them disbelief). Anyway on the paper it said to call if She was vomiting and I did. Several times and simply asked for anti nausea and some Royal Canin liquid food. Of course was denied for some reason and worse they couldn't even get a hold of the doctor so they refused to even hear it. And was told I had to bring her in again just to get liquid food. So another $488 later, They still refused to give her that liquid food that I had used from them two years prior for her recovery at my request. I mean if she's going to die anyway as they saywhat harm can this do? It's just $25 a bottle/day for a couple of days. Ended up going elsewhere for the food. They keep saying for the pets best interest but that's a farce I mean why wouldn't You want her to recover other than push to have it stay in a cage at their facility.... Yes I paid almost $500 just to get a bottle of liquid food which they refused, likely out of spite, that any caring vet would never deny even if it was just to make the "owner" happy. Other recent issues: She had a problem with her right rear leg And I just said I needed some anti-inflammatory and would do red laser... They insisted they needed to do about $10,000 worth of reconstruction on a 14-year-old dog with a year-long recovery which wouldn't even live that long. Needless to stay after Just a week of inflammation medication and red laser therapy She was literally running around over a mile everyday. This was about $1,000 but I didn't really care about the cost, But I can't imagine how many people they have conned into spending over $10,000 and putting their pet in agony for so long needlessly. Even going further back 2 years ago they said she had a few days to live and again my longtime friend who's been a vet for over 50 years and still is told me exactly what to do and it kept her going and happy for years when they would have had me euthanize her. At least back then they gave her the meds under my statement "if you say she's going to die anyway what's the problem" If a pet is going to die anyway why not facilitate something that's requested especially with the history of proven recovery from those requests? They are simply trying to force treatments that generate them money like overnight stays and such... These are photos and video of her for the last 2 years and most recent even the day of the event. They have been wrong about every prognosis and I'm hoping they are wrong about this very last one. Either way I'm just trying to give her as many more days as possible without suffering. My old vet friend contradicted so much of what they said from 1,500 mi away for years. And he hasn't been wrong. He's saying what I'm doing is the right thing by her while the staff here keeps trying to tell me what is the best thing for them. don't trust a thing they say - get independent review. Which is unfortunate because It diminishes their ability to save due to their lack of honesty and self-interest. Most of the 5 start reviews are fake.
This comes a few months after our first visit to VetMed. After two trips to our own vet and still not knowing what was wrong with our cat Skippy we were told he needed a scan to see what was happening. We ended up taking him to VetMed on a Friday because we didn't know what else to do... he seemed on his last moments, not eating for days and lethargic with no energy. Dr. Hough was amazing and very empathetic. She knew Skippy was in trouble. They kept him all weekend, sent me text updates and pics of how he was doing numerous times a day. It was determined he had Cancer. They sent us home with meds and instructions on how to keep him comfortable until it was his time to leave us. Skippy lasted two months before we had to say goodbye! We cherished every minute we had left with him. We're truly so grateful to Dr. Hough and her team at VetMed and the endless compassion they showed for Skippy and us. It's been three weeks since Skippy left us and we felt it was time to let others know how wonderful Dr. Hough and VetMed are. Thank you so much!
