Fantastic bookshop in the heart of Manchester City Centre. Always a pleasure to visit. It's very well stocked and the shop layout is splendid. I always find what I want. The shop staff/team are so friendly & helpful. Well worth a visit.

If you're a book lover in Manchester, this charming bookstore is an absolute must-visit. It’s easily one of the city’s standout spots, filled with character and a beautifully curated selection that any reader will appreciate. With its cozy nooks and warm atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to get lost in a good book. I can’t recommend it enough! I could spend hours here every time I’m in Manchester—and I never get bored. I’ve been coming since childhood, back when it was still located near St Anne’s Square and went by the name Dillons before becoming Waterstones. This place truly deserves more than five stars! UPDATE (Nov 2025): I prefer the original interior. The new makeover just doesn’t capture the feeling of being in a classic old bookstore.

Excellent book store with a wide selection. I love the other "non book" items they sell as well. A great place for gifts for all ages.

On the library itself, 10/10. On the cafe, dhey do have a decent choice of vegan foods however the place is pretty messy (tables are left dirty with the mugs etc) as only 2 people work there. Otherwise it’s a great place to read a book :)

Me and one of my friends recently went to Waterstones on Deansgate for a book signing! It was a great event!! We really enjoyed it! My only slight qualm was it was VERY warm in the room and there wasn’t any refreshments available to purchase. Otherwise. It was a great event, well organised!
