I have been very pleased with Mr. Brian at the West Lake Academy whom my son learns drums from. My son has been learning with Brian for 2.5 years and looks forward every week to his class with Brian. Brian encourages him and with us being Indian, he always is very respectful and tries to incorporate eastern music into our son's drum lessons. Brian encourages my son to perform at venues outside of the classroom and is always there to cheer him on and support him and takes time out of his schedule to be there. To get the most with any lesson, a child needs to practice and come to class prepared to learn. Brian informs students of his expectations of them while they are learning drums from him. I would recommend Brian as a teacher.

My grandson attends drum lessons at Westlake Musical Academy, and we are very happy with our experience. His teacher, Brian, is doing an excellent job. He is patient, professional, and truly cares about his students. We highly recommend him!

My son has autism and ADHD, and he has been taking drum lessons with Brian for about six months. David truly enjoys his lessons and really likes Brian. As a parent, it means so much to see him engaged and happy. We are very grateful to God for Brian. He is a kind, patient, and dedicated teacher who does an amazing job. His approach makes a real difference, and we feel blessed to have found him.

At 63 and newly retired, I fully leaned into the baby-boomer cliché of “I’m going to learn guitar.” What I didn’t expect was to find a place like Westlake Music Academy. Tom never treated me like a cliché. He shared my excitement, believed in me when I didn’t always believe in myself, and made learning both fun and meaningful. After a year of lessons, I’m genuinely enjoying it—and actually playing the guitar. My wife, who had some early doubts (and fears about what she’d be hearing), now tells friends and family she loves having music in the house. That says it all. I’ve also just started voice lessons with Albert. After two lessons he knows he has his work cut out for him, but his energy and encouragement make it exciting to step outside my comfort zone. Shout-out to Emily at the front desk as well. Watching her help students, it’s clear she treats everyone not as customers but as part of a family of musicians. If you’ve ever thought it might be “too late” to start music, Westlake Music Academy will prove you wrong.

There’s something quietly powerful about Westlake Music Academy. Tucked along Detroit Road, it doesn’t shout for attention—it earns it through consistency, care, and a genuine love for teaching. Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone returning to music after years away, this school meets you with respect and warmth.
