One of my wife’s favorite stores. They have a good selection of products. I like that they carry Dr. Squatch brand men’s soap. Good place to shop for the holidays.
Follow up to my review: Thank you to the Store Owner who replied, I do appreciate it. I recall the girl saying she had been there since 6 AM, so she'd probably done a double shift and was very tired. I don't want anyone to lose their job over my complaint and I know that everyone has bad days. I don't think either of us reacted to each other very well and I'm sure it was just an off day for her. I know the holidays are rough on a lot of people too. Such a disappointing visit. I have been coming here to shop with my mom for Christmas gifts for almost 40 years. Tonight has been an experience that will cause me to NEVER again give my business to my neighborhood Cost Plus World Market. The customer service is abhorrent. After spending over 2 hours discussing Christmas gifts with my mom, and having over $200 worth of items in my cart, we got to the front of the line. I have been a long time rewards member, and I get text coupons. When I got to the cashier, I asked the cashier if I needed my phone for the coupon or could just use my phone number. She replied I would need to use my actual phone (not a great system, but ok) to apply the coupon. I asked her if I could go outside, because my phone was charging in my car, and she could ring up someone else in the meantime. I go to my car and am trying to keep charging the phone while looking up the coupon. It wasn't easily accessible, but clearly I was in my car with the door open right outside the store. I was literally facing the inside of the store and it was clear what I was doing. After about 3 minutes, she comes outside, sulking, spreading her arms out in a "what are you doing" gesture. I mouthed back "I'm working on it!" She stomps back inside where I can see her complain to her co-worker. I go back in and say "I'm sorry my phone is charging and I can't get the coupon. " To which she replies, "well, we have a lot of people in line and can't wait". I've spent a lot of money at this store over the years and it was a very condescending experience. I told them to just forget about it and I didn't want to give them my business anymore. In the meantime, my 80 year old mom is waiting and trying to find a solution while I was trying to charge my phone. She goes back in and offers to pay. I see her doing that and run in. They were rude to her when they saw me come in. They said "you have no coupons left" and when I tried to ask her what she was doing, the clerk interrupted and said "Someone needs to pay for this!" like we were some delinquents. I said to the clerk that I was just trying to get my rewards number and coupon up on my phone and she said "you were sitting in your car and I didn't know if you were coming back. I have other customers". Ok. Fine. I said "I was coming back, I just needed a minute" to which she said "look ma'am we close in one minute and we've been here all day." THERE it is. She's tired, and wants to go home. Fair. I get it. I said, "I'm sorry you're miserable at your job and don't have time to take care of your customers." And she has the nerve to reply, "Well I could say the same for you." This person knows nothing about me or my life. I told her, "I actually happen to like my job" and she said, "then why you coming in like this?" It was so unprofessional. I get it. I've worked retail at the holiday and customers can be super annoying. But instead of being another happy memory with my mom, it completely soured me on this store.
I'm very disappointed to see that they removed the Hanukkah section this year. I verified with a clerk after searching the whole store. Additionally, I found a few broken items on the shelves and one of the cloth napkin bundles I grabbed had one cloth napkin missing. The staff seemed to act of my concerns quickly. They all seemed very welcoming and focused on keeping the shelves stocked too. I really love the products they sell but I'm not sure I'll be back as excluding a Hanukkah section this year doesn't feel very inclusive considering the current political climate. (The location on Steven's creek apparently has Hanukkah coins and a small section still)
My kids enjoy going to this store to look at the toys, the gift items, and the furniture. The salepeople are helpful and give me suggestions for gifts. My family likes the sodas and the ginger snap cookies. I bought two lunchboxes, plates, and stationery during my last visit to the store. The lunchboxes are useful for my kids' large appetites. They are happy that these lunchboxes are larger than the ones I usually find. Most of the lunchboxes I find are bulky, with insufficient capacity that do not hold enough food for my kids. World Market has a large assortment of novelty items ranging from drinks and snacks, apparel and accessories, toys and novelty items, to furniture. If you wish to look for a gift, stop by this store to browse around for ideas.
Big big store with something to buy where ever you look, I mean ever square inch has something, there is so much product that my brain started to hurt just trying to take it all in. I asked the cashier if they had Torrone? She said yes it’s right over there “pointing” I said I just looked over there “she giggled and said I can see it from here” well anyway I must have spent 2 hours looking around picking up unique food items for my family and friends for Christmas. This store definitely has a “I want it” cool factor for foodies. The prices are a bit on the high side however but that didn’t stop me from buying a bunch of yummy items to the tune of $130 like Torrone, Marzipan bars, pickled herring, Ghost peppers sausage rolls, salmon pate, cheeses, etc., etc.crackers and even gummy bears laugh out loud. Overall I think this is a good place to go to make some nice gift baskets for friends and family but not for every day shopping. “ kind of a niche market
