The owner, an elderly indian man is CREEPY. I felt like he was hitting on me and following me around the store. He asked me about my dog but was looking at my chest the whole time. I felt bad because he’s old so I stayed in the store for longer than I should have. After reading more reviews about him I’m not sure how they have a business. Lee if you’re reading this, it’s time to retire.

We stopped by Yap in Ghirardelli Square and instantly fell in love with their harness technology and the quality of their materials. The gentleman helping us was incredibly knowledgeable — you can tell they come from a tech background because these harnesses are designed to fit dogs safely and comfortably. We ended up getting two harnesses and a waterproof winter vest for our Chihuahua, Ruby. Our favorite feature is the handle on the back — it makes it so easy (and safe) to pick her up when needed. Even Ruby loves them more than her old traditional strappy -style harnesses. These are more of a soft, secure wrap that actually moves with her. We couldn’t be happier with our purchase — honestly, more dogs should be wearing these!

Had a really bad experience here with the sales associate. Went into the shop with my husband and was looking at products. The man who worked there was asking us about our dogs and was trying to sell us on a dog seatbelt harness but I told him we use crates for the pups car transport safety. I was still interested in some of their other products but seeing that he wasn’t going to sell us on the seatbelt thing he got visibly annoyed by us being there, rolled his eyes, tossed the product to the side, ignored my follow up question about a different jacket, and just walked away and started chatting up another person in the store with the same fake enthusiasm as he greeted us with. I was legitimately interested in some of their other stuff, but after this guy’s super, super rude attitude towards my husband and I, we left. After a few minutes I asked my husband if he saw what I saw and he said “yea, that guy was a total jerk”. I get that this place is a store and y’all got to make sales. But you could learn a little decorum and end the conversation significantly more politely than literally rolling your eyes and walking away.

UPDATE, Adam at YapStores, has gotten back to me and sent me the new harness which is great and fit my dog perfectly. I am SO frustrated by this store/company. I was visiting San Francisco the end of August from Washington State. I only bought a harness because the salesman stated I could exchange it for a larger one. I have called the company line at least 20 times, no one answers and the voicemail is not set up. I even went so far to go online and pay the difference assuming SOMEONE would contact me still NOTHING. I am giving one star because I do like the product I just want one my dog can use. It still has tag......so if you read this review CONTACT ME !!!!

We LOVE the YAP store at Ghirardelli square!! It’s literally the BEST pet outerwear you will ever find! I have many pictures to show the different harnesses and jackets we have for Marshall. The orange one (the Vitesse) gets the most attention on a daily basis and even more for some reason on Halloween but it’s the best one they have because it’s designed to perfectly grab the handle in the middle of the back in case you have to move your pet in case of emergency (instead of pull on neck method or bend and scoop which are both intense on the pet and human!). The Vitesse is also great because it’s waterproof and covers the back of the thighs which need warming too in colder conditions which we often go to the snow and it’s such a sturdy, quick drying jacket. 10/10 would recommend. Everyone should go visit this store and talk to the staff as they are so knowledgeable in the type of harness, jacket and other wraps that are the most suitable for your pet! I especially love the back pack! Marshall loves to be close my chest and I feel no back stress from this backpack due to its design. YAP really thinks about the pet and owner! We’ve spent less getting a few things at YAP that will last us forever than at a regular pet store buying many things and trying them all. This place will save you time and money. Go check it out!
