I went in with my service dog. The barista did not seem to be aware of any legal protections surrounding service dogs. I checked in with her, asked her if she knew the two legal questions. She didn't, so I told her what she could legally ask service dog handlers, and what appropriate answers would be. She said she wanted to accommodate me, and they had outdoor seating. I told her again he is a service dog. She said she knew, but without much tact checked in with her manager. If you don't know the law, at least be kind and don't suggest I sit outside in 45 degree weather. Her manager said it was fine for me to stay inside, but at that point I decided I could spend my money elsewhere. Staff should be educated on disability laws, and if they aren't educated, at least have customer service skills that don't belittle patrons.
I’ve been to Yonder a few times now, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots in Durham. The space has a really welcoming vibe, and the staff are always kind, friendly, and genuinely accommodating. I especially love some of their teas, a few of them remind me of how I used to have them back home in India, which makes every visit feel a little extra special. It’s a place where I’ve always felt comfortable, included, and well taken care of. Highly recommend! 🙌
Yonder is a gem. In my humble opinion, it is probably one of the best cafes that I've ever been too. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Their filter coffee and espresso drinks are great, and it is really awesome and unique that they have coffee on offer from a variety of small coffee roasters. I also super appreciate the creativity and execution of their tonics like Hellfire (iykyk). 10/10, no notes (I guess aside from my earlier praises)
A friend brought me here on a visit to Durham and I loved it! They have a really tasty selection of single-origin coffee and local pastries, it's a cute place (great mugs!) and the staff are super sweet. The owners seem to care a lot about building community in Durham and host and participate in a lot of cool events :) hope to be back soon!!
I had heard great things about Yonder, and they were all true, just not as good as I expected for as much as I had heard about it. It's clean. Doubles as a bar. Good coffee. A few pastry options.
