I discovered photography during military service in the late 1960s, shooting with a Pentax Spotmatic at bases in Turkey and beyond. What started as an enjoyable hobby became a calling. After graduating from “Brooks Institute of Photography” in Santa Barbara in 1974 and working at four commercial studios, I received the experience needed to establish Joe Robbins Photography in 1984. After many years acquiring a vast amount of knowledge working for others I had the confidence necessary to master an array of specialties to include executive headshots, industrial equipment, architectural photography and lots of product work. I became that person who understood that professional photography starts with listening, not just showing up with a camera.
