3D’s dance studio offers an amazing summer camp. My daughter and nieces were engaged in a variety of dance classes, cheer, sewing, gymnastics, modeling, art and much more.
Signed my daughter up for 3D Dance Academy's tap class. The class that I chose was for Tuesdays (5P-5:45P). Classes began on September 16th. We were so excited to embark on this new dance journey, as my daughter enjoys music/movement. Week 1 (Sep 16): Classes are located on the campus of Marygrove. I completed payment and application online, so I was looking forward to some sort of in person introduction to the program (did not happen). I provided my daughter's name, and we were escorted to the upper level where the tap class was held. No sign in sheet present, no introduction to the instructor, the students just began dancing. I can't even tell you what the instructor's name was. Week 2 (Sep 23): New Instructor, Mr. Otis Brown was an absolute gem. He introduced himself and was very patient and pleasant with the students. Sign in sheet was present. This week, I noticed the inconsistency with instructors but again was eager and looking forward to what was to come. Week 3 (Sep 30): Arrived at scheduled time 5P and was informed that the tap dance was moved to a new time slot (5:45P). I asked the young lady how parents/students were notified; she informed me through the app that they use; in addition to an email. As a new parent, I received no email, and I do remember reading briefly on the site that they use an app. But again, after registration there was no further mention of the app. Upon observation, there were a lot of returning students/parents who were already familiar with the processes and the classes. I do believe for new parents/students there should be at least a brief orientation to introduce both parents and students to the classes. Overall, I do believe that 3D Academy is a good school based upon their reviews (reason why I chose them). But as a parent whose child was new to their program, I did not find it very welcoming or organized. I myself would not return, but I advise others to experience it for themselves.
The summer program at Mrs. Moreland’s 3D Dance Academy was absolutely amazing! It offered so many different opportunities for the kids, including modeling, sewing, dance, majorette cheering, gymnastics, jazz, as well as math and reading. The variety made it such a well-rounded experience. I would very highly recommend this program to any parent looking for something positive, fun, and educational for their child. I’m already looking forward to enrolling my baby in the year-round program—I just love it! Bridgett Williams
My daughter currently attends the summer camp, and she won’t be returning. The program seems to be fairly organized, however the owner Sharon Thomas-Freed lacks professionalism when disagreements arise. Her custom service is sugar coated with fancy words, but the content of her messages in both private and group messages are condescending, rude, and distasteful.
Unfortunately my experience here with my kids was not the greatest! However, I am happy to say that the school refunded my money and also apologize for the inconvenience that we were put through. You can not find good customer service anymore, but a apology and kindness from the owner Mrs. Freed-Moreland was greatly appreciated.
