Came in tonight to enjoy some me time and I was beyond impressed with this place. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a yummy glad of wine. The bartender izzy was extremely knowledgeable with all the questions I had about the menu and very friendly. Everyone was very polite to. The food was absolutely amazing! So fresh and flavorful. I will be taking myself back here at least once a month. I must try everything. Thanks again!
Update : owner never responded to review. I have completely removed less than 5 star reviews if an owner tried to respond to issues raised. Regarding the tin dish the meal was served in, I should have just refused it. Original review: My wife and I are retired. I stopped into this restaurant about 4 months ago since it was new to the strip center I’ve shopped in for over 30 years. It’s a Basha center with Ace Hardware store. This center is located in Mesa Arizona. It’s not as affluent as Scottsdale. We tried it because the owner finally decided to send out marketing coupons in the monthly mailing. Prices were very high for the location. Ambience limited by view of Taco Bell and the empty store that’s slated to be a goodwill. The serving dish, after a glass or two of wine was more a joke than offense. I told my server I couldn’t even buy one as beat up at the goodwill. He said it was imported from Italy! There must be a name for this type of dish. In comparison my wife had a beautiful large flower decorated dish to present her $28.00 Meal. I think the waiter should give you the option of choosing a nice dish. I had fun however when a young lady came to collect the empty tin pan. “I hope you’re not going to charge me for chewing up and denting your dish!” I Joked, my wife getting a good laugh at my witticism. The food in the dish was good, but I never had an Italian marinara sauce with pork ribs in it. Also there was a large chunk of fatty pork that was uneatable. I discarded it assuming it was missed and left in by accident. In conclusion, there are many restaurants available, with the selection limitless. Any restaurant needs to make themselves unique. This one has certainly done that. $$$ expensive for location.
Food was Wonderful we had Steven that waited on us. What a super nice Restaurant clean, Atmosphere was wonderful live plants on ledges. Some seating areas had plugs so u can plug your phones in. Chairs are little low to set in. No salt and pepper on tables that was different. Bakery inside soooo excited this Area really needs a nice Italian Restaurant here. Was very pleased to talk to Bobby she also works at Modo Mio. And don't forget a awesome happy hour at 3pm. It's the place to go!!
This restaurant was very nice. Great atmosphere. I liked that there was a separate area for gelato and other desserts. Our server was great as well. I tried two pizzas. The Butcher and the Calabrese. Both were absolutely delicious. The crust had a nice chewiness to it and great flavor. You could taste the quality in the toppings as well. I prefer a little more crunch and rigidity in my pizza. This had a full flop unless I folded my slices in half. I did ask for future reference if I could request to have the pizza cooked a bit longer for a better crisp and our server confirmed that could be done. Someone in our group did order the Arancini. They said it was okay. I didn't try it. Visually, the risotto on the interior looked a little drier than I would have liked, so I saved stomach space for pizza. For this specific part of Mesa, this is one of the better restaurants I have tried. When in the area, I would stop in again.
We really enjoyed our visit to A Modo Mio! I had the fettuccine with brie sauce, which was excellent. You really get a lot of brie flavor with it. My wife had spaghetti with Meatballs, and I have to say the meatballs were some of the best I've had. We sat in the bar area because it was more lively. They have happy hour every day on beer and house wine and liquor. Our server Izzy was outstanding, in spite of having to wrestle with an uncooperative beer keg behind the bar. After dinner we walked over to the deli/Cafe side and had a nice Gelato. The pistachio and dark chocolate was especially good. Highly recommend.
