Our 15 month mini bernedoodle has been getting a full groom from Jill at A Walk in the Park since she was 5 months old. These are the best Saint Louis dog groomers for poodle mixes (and I’d say any other dog or cat breed!) Prompt, responsive, affordable, precise to your vision and pet’s needs — this pet grooming establishment covers every base and more! I cannot recommend A Walk in the Park more for anyone searching for pet grooming in Saint Louis!
I have been taking my dog to this groomer for a year and have always had a great experience. He is a standard poodle, and is used to being groomed. However, I find at other places we have gone, he never really seemed like he wanted to go into the building. Not this place! He loves going there and seems so calm and stress-free when we arrive and when we leave. I think that is a testament to how well they treat him. Thanks so much to the groomers and staff, you all are amazing!
I’ve been a loyal customer of A Walk in the Park for nearly five years, always bringing my dog here since basically moving to STL. Today, I had an 11:15 AM appointment. I was working from home, focused on preparing for the upcoming school year (I’m a teacher), and simply lost track of time. That was my fault. I own that. But mistakes happen When I realized and called at 11:45 to say I was on my way, I was told they had already given away his slot and could not take him. No phone call to check if everything was okay. No opportunity to bring him in later today or an apology. Just a curt, unsympathetic response from the front desk attendant and a sarcastic reminder that “we send text reminders for appointments.” For the record, I have never received a text reminder about appointment reminder—only emails. I only receive texts when my dog is ready for pickup. I was shocked at the lack of understanding for a small mistake. Mind you this is the ONE and ONLY time I have ever been late for drop off or pick up. It’s clear this decision wasn’t about scheduling: It was about money! They didn’t bother to call because it was easier and more profitable for them to just fill my spot. How did they fill it so quickly? Likely by calling another customer on a waiting list. They chose money instead of showing basic courtesy to a loyal client of five years. That’s not customer service . . . that’s greed. I immediately called another groomer, who was kind, understanding, and UTTERLY shocked that my appointment was replaced without even a courtesy call. She assured me they would never do that and always give a courtesy call if a pet being dropped off is late. That’s what valuing both the pets and the people who bring them in actually looks like. I am pleased by how kind and respectful this woman was. Thank you to Groomingdales for taking my dog Buddy on as a client on such short notice! You truly exemplify customer service, kindness, and loyalty. Before I end I do want to emphasize this review is NOT a reflection of Jill, who has been my dog’s groomer and has always been wonderful to Buddy. Jill, thank you for the years of excellent care; you will be missed. Unfortunately, this business has made it clear that profits matter more to them than loyalty, kindness, or respect for their clients. I do NOT recommend taking your pet here. Go somewhere you will BOTH be valued. 8.12 Edit: I cannot reply to your comment. If you wanted to remedy this in a “respectful, professional way,” you could have called me. You criticized me for jumping on a computer, and you didn’t same. I stand by my review. I do apologize for my inaccuracy of the time I called. I did call at, according to my phone, 11:56, and I was on the phone for 5 minutes. In that call I did ask if it was standard to not receive a courtesy call if someone is late, and that is when I got the sarcastic reply about text reminders. So, your reply does have inaccuracies: I did not receive a call nor a voicemail, or I would have answered and immediately brought my dog as I’m 10 minutes away. I have missed calls on Friday at 9:27, 10:14, & 11:54. They likely called a wrong number like they have before calling me like they have in the past for another customer with a dog with the same name. I admitted fault for forgetting, and I admit fault for the wrong time; I should have checked for full accuracy. You are blind to your fault in this situation and decided to say it is “frighting” that I’m an educator, which is more of a bad reflection of you, how you do business, and how you treat customers. Your metaphor comparing me to a teen did make me laugh. So, thank you for that. I am glad to leave this business behind, as the new groomer’s business already has been kinder, more respectful, & more communicative than any interaction with your front desk workers. Good luck to you & your business. Have a nice day.
Francis got his best haircut ever. So adorable. Everything exactly how I hoped it would be and better. Corrie did a phenomenal job and all staff were helpful and kind. I generally like to save $ by doing it myself, but this is worth it. Thank you!
I have a typical border collie: high energy but nervous, and with a lot of fur. We've been going to A Walk In the Park for around 2 years, upon the suggestion of a friend who was a long-time customer/client. While my dog does not love getting groomed, it's clear that he has had a good experience at AWITP because he is excited when we arrive (until he remembers why we're there). We always do the full bath package and anytime I've had questions or concerns about something - like the duration of appointment time or length of nails - staff have been responsive and offer solutions. It is not cheap but I believe it is within the normal range of pricing for these services. Making appointments is easy, and staff are very helpful.
