We worked with head trainer, Cait, to prepare our dogs for a new baby with the baby prep package. It was important to us to set our 7 and 9 year old pups up for success before bringing home baby since they had virtually no experience with tiny humans. We haven’t had the baby yet, but after several months of private lessons, in-home lessons, and day training we have learned so much and built really great skills that I’m confident will make the transition easier. Additionally, our dogs have loved every minute of working with the Good Dog team. I was nervous about sending them for day training because they don’t always like other dogs, but they quickly bonded with the trainers and I could tell they had great days at school working on skills, loose leash walking, and supervised socializing based on the detailed progress reports we got. If you are looking for dog training in the St. Louis area, I cannot recommend Good Dog enough. It’s an investment for sure, but the payoff has been worth it.
1-1 training here was helpful for us. I could never recommend the day training program to anyone I picked up my dog from the first day and he had a bloody snout. No one called me to let me know he was struggling, no one let me know what happened when I picked him up, once I saw his wound in the car I had to go back in to ask what happened. You have to sign some major release forms to work with them so it’s just not a lot of security on the consumer side. And if you buy a package with them they are Strict on their business policies , absolutely no refunds or protection on this side of things, no matter the circumstances. I was surprised because this was the place most recommended to me when I asked community for training recs.. so I felt confident going in and buying a plan with them. I shared about my experience with someone at the dog park and felt validated in that they also had a strange unprofessional experience with Good Dog.
Good Dog Enrichment was recommended to me, and truly, it’s been a game changer. We adopted the SWEETEST (but seriously reactive and goofy) dog last year. I was literally running her miles, playing fetch/ flirt pole, just desperately trying to fill her high energy needs and calm her down. After a great convo with Cait (the owner, and a true doll!), they came up with a solid game plan catered to us, to help socialize her, teach better manners, and provide tools to address the reactivity. The staff sends ‘how to’ training videos to owners as part of the day training program, so not only is the dog benefiting, but I am too. It’s tools that are easy to incorporate into everyday practice… and WOO, they WORK. It just takes practice and time. (And as an owner- I’m HERE for it). **Worth noting- I’ve owned dogs my ENTIRE life and they put things on the table I hadn’t considered trying** My puppachino has learned a lot (so have I) and she is, without a doubt, a better dog since we’ve been going to Good Dog... But maybe more importantly, and why we love it SO much, is that she gets to be really loved and understood by people who aren’t her owners. I think the world feels less scary to her because she has her friends (ALL of the trainers and her new pup friends). I know when I drop her off she’s safe, cared for and in excellent hands/paws. Getting her learn AND fun on. 🎉 So, big shoutout to Good Dog for making our dogs’ worlds a better, bigger and safer space while giving us tools to keep working. You’ve got all our love for that! (So much so that we enrolled a second pup) ❤️ 😜 I’d give you 6 stars if I could
I hate negatively reviewing a business but this was such a negative experience that I feel the need to warn other customers. The employees here are all very nice so I had high hopes that spending a week of my salary on 3 private lessons would be worth it. Unfortunately our dogs had only negative results. Except for some fun YouTube resources that anyone can access for free, our dogs' behavior only deteriorated with the suggestions of staff. The majority of our lessons were going over the free YouTube videos and what happened the previous week. I kept hoping for some substantial form of training but we mostly just chatted. Our second session the trainer even forgot we were on the schedule which meant that we left work early and drove through rush hour for nothing. AND they convinced us that our dog had a spine deformation which led us to spend thousands on an MRI, x-rays and lots of medication only to find out nothing was wrong. This company cost us SOOOO much money for no results. As soon as we stopped implementing their suggestions things improved greatly. Maybe worst of all, when they realized they had failed to meet any of the promises made in the initial call they tried to sell us even more lessons and a very expensive day camp. Such a bummer and incredibly frustrating.
We love GoodDog and Kailey!! We started working with Kailey last year with our reactive foster baby and we were all so anxious and un-confident. Fast forward a year later and she has come so far in her reactivity and we feel so confident handling her. So confident that we got a second baby and thanks to Kailey's help the two girlies are getting along so well. We love Good Dog so much!
