I recently visited Amala Spa and Club for a facial experience for two. Unfortunately, the original appointment had to be cancelled and rescheduled; however, as a thoughtful gesture of goodwill, the spa kindly added two complimentary 60-minute full body massages. Pros: The additional treatments were very much appreciated and truly enhanced the experience. The setting is absolutely beautiful and incredibly relaxing. Sophia and Renalda were exceptionally welcoming, communicated clearly throughout, and delivered service that went above and beyond expectations. Their professionalism and warm manner made us feel completely at ease. Overall, the treatments were of excellent quality and well worth the visit — I will most certainly be returning. Cons: The only aspect that slightly detracted from the experience was the temperature of the treatment room, which was quite cold and made it a little difficult to fully relax. Despite this minor point, it was a wonderful experience overall and one I would happily recommend.
Dissapointed with the Spa day package, we booked for a girls day out and on arrival were told that the treatments wouldnt start until the afternoon. Lockers were broken, and the pool was cold. The only refreshments available was water unless you get dressed and go upstairs to the restaurant! Food in the restaurant is excellent and staff were very nice.
I had a pleasant visit to Amala Spa, however I was surprised to hear that treatments are not available during the week, which was slightly disappointing. Given the treatments were not running, it felt more like a health club than a spa as there are no relaxation areas, hot drinks, darker lighting, or any other amenities typically associated with the spa experience. Saying that, the facilities included a small gym, a nice 1.68m deep pool ideal for some short lengths, a boiling hot sauna, a small steam room, a small jacuzzi, and a plunge pool (though it wasn’t particularly cold - the dedicated cold shower was much colder!). There are several beds/chairs to relax in, and the overall atmosphere is nice and calm. The changing rooms are a decent size and offer combination lockers, but many of them were broken - it took me four attempts to find one that worked. I arrived later in the evening, and the changing area was showing signs of use throughout the day, with towels, sandals, and a left over swimming costume with bottles etc. left in the showers. One of the shower heads was also on the floor. One of the showers also didn’t get hot, so I had to switch showers to one that worked. Overall, it’s a nice space to unwind if you’re staying in Birmingham for an event at the ICC or Rec, but it could definitely benefit from more regular upkeep throughout the day, as well as a few maintenance issues being fixed such as the lockers and the showers. It looks to be showing its age a little bit.
Gorgeous spa. Treatments were amazing and well worth the money. Only disappointment was the pool is far to deep especially for petite people. That's something that should be considered as some people can't swim but still want to enjoy a dip in the pool. Definitely look at a shallow and deep end!
Booked a sweedish couple massage and had an amazing experience with my partner at Amala spa this afternoon. On arrival we were met by our masseuse Justine and Preston Signed our waivers and was shown to our room. Beautiful room, set up really nicely. The atmosphere was lovely and calm with relaxing music playing in the background. My masseuse, Justine, was absolutely amazing. She applied just the right amount of pressure and her technique was on point. The hot towel experience was amazing. My partner equally enjoyed his massage too. Overall I really enjoyed my time here. Staff are friendly and willing to go above and beyond to accommodate your needs. Definatly recommend this treatment. Will definitely be looking to return... soon
