Since the new owner took over, prices are higher and portions are smaller, but the real issue is the decline in quality. The Chirashi Sushi, once this restaurant’s signature dish, has been completely ruined. Inconsistent sashimi and dry rice that bears no resemblance to proper Japanese sushi rice. The Teriyaki Beef was equally underwhelming, something easily done better at home. What truly crossed the line was the service. When I had literally TWO BITES left, the owner asked me to change seats because people were waiting outside. This is not how a Japanese restaurant should treat its customers. Japan is known for having some of the most polite and respectful service in the world. I grew up in Japan, and this experience was genuinely shocking and unacceptable. Sadly, I can no longer recommend this place. NO!!!!!

This place is definitely a hidden gem in South East Queensland Region. After trying out multiple sushi places after experiencing the original taste in Japan, this place was the only place that reminded me of the tastes back in Japan. Never an exaggeration, but considering the price, the quality and taste is by far the best sushi I had in the Brisbane and Gold Coast area. If you are not looking for having some sushi in a fine dining where you have to pay hundreds of dollars, this place would be the best pick for you to experience affordable high quality sushi. Plus, the udon is also something that was beyond my expectation, it was definitely a thing to try here. I will definitely come back for more of the amazing tastes.

This restaurant is a must for everyone craving real, authentic japanese food! The staff is so lovely and welcoming and as someone that visited Japan many times, this food is so extraordinary for Australia. Most things are home made and you can tell! It’s tasty, VERY fairly priced and truly authentic. Absolutely blown away. Katsu Curry is a must try! Soo crunchy and juicy. Couldn’t have had better food, we will be back ❤️ ありがとうございます♪

I came here because of the many positive reviews, but I was quite disappointed. This was honestly the worst sashimi I’ve ever had in the Gold Coast; it simply wasn't fresh. I wonder if it’s related to the recent change in management. The service was okay—the staff was proactive in providing children's cutlery, but they forgot to mention that the miso soup is self-service. I won't be returning.

prices have definitely inflated from what i’ve seen on TikTok and other reviews, but there are still affordable dishes. loved the pork katsu don ($16) which was so flavourful and a really balanced tasty dish. their miso soup has a rich taste
