I’ve been coming along to evening ceramics for a year or so now. I love it, my favourite time of the week. Kristen is amazing, a wonderful and skilled teacher whilst creating a fun atmosphere. I’ve also got lots of unique handmade goodies to show off!
I started the saturday wheel and handbuilding ceramics sessions here in mid 2023 and have been going ever since. tl;dr: I highly recommend this class, you will have a fantastic time learning and making with the class facilitators Kristen and Sam. ---- The class adapts to your preferred learning experience. If you're looking for an introduction to handbuilding with clay or trying to throw on the wheel for the first time, the class facilitators can step you through basic techniques and processes from start to end. If you've already got a project in mind and just want an idea of how to go about tackling it they can suggest basic starting steps and help troubleshoot throughout. If you want to dive in on your own and just want a space to freely create in a space with good vibes and helpful troubleshooters, go for your life. I love watching what everyone else is building, weird glazes or cool sculpture or texture experiments or practical objects. You tend to get a mix of beginners, intermediate and advanced participants and the space is very very positive. The vibe is very chill, if you're worried about 'art crit' vibes, don't be, everyone is always chuffed to be making a thing and seeing other people's blobs and slabs of clay transform. Failure is funny and mistakes are goofs and you couldn't ask for a nicer space to mess about with clay. Shout out Kristen and Sam the class facilitators. Kristen specialises in throwing on the wheel while Sam leans more towards hand building. Both are able to do troubleshooting on most kinds of clay projects. Together they set the tone for Saturdays to be an up-beat, down-to-earth clay experiment time. Anyway, you should come give it a go. =]
Saturday ceramics with Kristen and Sam is my favorite day of the week.
