A great place if you're looking to learn more about Zen Buddhism, but most specifically the Soto Zen tradition. The sangha there is casual, friendly, and welcoming...willing to let you practice at your pace and comfort level regardless of any prior experience with Zen Buddhism. It's not overly monastic although there is a weekly observance on Sundays and a Monday through Friday daily morning meditation and sutra chanting. There is also a class for newcomers and classes for advanced discussion. Check out their website for more details!

A perfect environment to practice Soto Zen. Perhaps it would be appropriate to describe it as a perfect place to "just sit". The teachers are compassionate, accommodating, and welcoming of new and inexperienced people. There is a peace one finds just by stepping into the Zendo that carries on into the practice. A wonderful experience. I have loved every visit I have made to the center.

A really brilliantly wonderful place for learning about traditional Japanese Zen meditation from a seminal figure in the Zen Buddhist migration from East to West. There is also a wonderful thriving community here with weekday and week night offerings for study and practice.

A wonderful place and joyous people; Wednesday evenings are introduction classes for beginners, or intermediates, or advanced practitioners. Recommended for anyone interested in learning more about zen meditation.

If you are a sincere meditator, or simply interested in learning more about Zen, the Atlanta Soto Zen Center has an open community (sangha) that can support you. The beginner's classes are welcoming (check the calendar as the days/times sometimes change). The community also meets regularly on Sundays for a more traditional service. And for more the more adventurous, ASZC holds a full schedule of retreats throughout the year.
