This was my favorite restaurant on both Oahu and Maui and we ate the majority of our meals here during our time in Oahu. It is walkable from Waikiki. Outdoor dining with beautiful ocean and beach views. The menu is large and diverse enough that we were able to try something different each time. Everything we tried was delicious. Great local fish. Portions were huge and my wife and I wound up splitting meals after our first visit. The atmosphere was incredible. It's out of Waikiki's commotion and they had very good local musicians every night. Prices were very reasonable and comperable to the Midwest. The only downside is I probably won't get to go back and nothing in the Midwest can compare. Edit we were there in February of 2025. There was construction going on for the path behind the dining area which is why there's fencing and black plastic in the background. Normally it opens to the beach and I think tables right on the beach.
I found this spot while searching for kalua pork and garlic shrimp. They had these, plus many more options. The pork and cabbage plate was exactly what I'd hoped for and the garlic shrimp was large and flavorful. The smoothies looked good too, though we didn't get any on this visit. Friendly service and a covered seating area made this an especially pleasant counter service experience.
I visited this little restaurant by the ocean and absolutely loved it. The place is very cozy, with surprisingly moderate even low prices considering how high the food quality is. Everything we tried was incredibly delicious. I especially enjoyed the pineapple cocktail, which was amazing. There was live music with musicians playing real instruments, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The place is beautifully decorated with string lights, so it’s wonderful to sit by the water in the evening, listen to the sound of the ocean, and enjoy traditional Hawaiian dishes. I really loved this spot. Definitely a recommendation, the price-to-quality ratio is perfect, and the prices are ideal.
We had a delicious, fresh lunch at Barefoot Beach Cafe last week. Lots of choices on the menu! My avocado toast with an over-easy fried egg had fresh arugula, tomato and just enough feta to give the egg a nice bit of saltiness, and the presentation on the ceramic plate was bright and cheerful with a piece of fresh pineapple and a flower blossom. There was live music (very good, too!) while we were there for lunch, and the covered seating allowed us to see the ocean while enjoying the shade and cool breezes. A great stop for lunch!
This restaurant was so good. Eating while watching the beachfront made it the perfect spot to chill, relax, and just enjoy some amazing food. The view was gorgeous and the food looked just as good. I got the eggs benedict and an acai bowl and both were delicious, fresh, and hit just right. Honestly, the whole vibe is pure Hawaiian bliss. Great spot to hang out, take in the scenery, and enjoy a nice meal. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.
